Looking back over the last 5-10 years, it would be fair to say the top teams in the NRL have been following teams:

Melbourne
Manly
Rabbitohs
Roosters
Bulldogs
Dragons to an extent

The only difference here is, out of all these teams we are the only ones who haven't yet won a Premiership. Our time is now. It will be extremely disappointing if the next 2-3 year do not reel in a Premiership. I'm confident we can get there, but patience is really wearing thin now. We should be as hungry as ever right now to bring home a Premiership.

Yes, I agree,
I remember feeling like this in the early 2000s
After losing the gf in 98 to the broncs
Then in 99 we lost the prelim to storm on the back of a last minute runaway try to the storm on the back of a terrible grubbed from Stuart,
Little stumble in 00
Then 2001 ended bad for us with injury to key players,
2002 stripped points,
By the time 04 had come around, I was really desperate for a premiership,

I feel exactly the same way now as I did back on 04

The Rabbitohs not only had to wait 43 years, but then had to fail twice at the GF Qualifier before they went all the way.

I have full confidence that we'll go all the way in the next year or two.

I still blame Barba for our setbacks. We built our side around that little shit, and as a result of him leaving we've been playing a star down for over a year now. We're literally a superstar Fullback away from being world beaters.

Look at Hodkinson and Reynolds when they played with a Fullback like Hayne in this year's State of Origin. You put Hayne or a fit Barba in our side last night and we win easily.

I see 2016 being a better chance.

2015 I think we may just fall short again. New hooker and fullback coming into the team, will take a while to gel as they are key positions.

I am confident by the very latest in 2016 we will have a premiership.
Who's the new fullback next year?

As much as its not a viable long term solution on the surface... i want Brett Stewart badly, and have the master mentor Corey Thompson over a year or two. Thompson will be 25 by then I'm guessing and could give us a few great seasons.

We were gutsy but at the moment we need changes to the squad to take it out in a dominant fashion

We flopped into the top 8, seriously out of form, then 3 miracles wins and a GF loss

If we're fair, our form this year pre finals was very average to poor at best

I don't think Thompson is the long term answer.

if we buy Stewart we will be all in to win a premiership in the next two years. If we fail to do so our window will close.

we are a long way from seeing what the teams look like next year, I think souths, roosters, cowboys and panthers will all still be good next year. Brisbane, Eels and warriors should be better. And it is stupid to write off manly or the storm. Next year will be a weird season I think.

We need to really work on our attack. I have no idea who we need or how to do it, but I'm really praying Hasler knows.

I should thank you for stealing it lol. I put it up the next day or 2 after the Manly win!

It's cool though. I never get sick of seeing it :grinning:

I simply don't think winning games purely on the defensive side of the ball is sustainable. Eventually a team like Souths make you have to score points to beat them.

So true.
We played this year as the classic counterpuncher, effective , but eventually when you come up against someone with a knockout punch they'll get a couple of good shots in and there is no way back. Souths last night pounded the body relentlessly until Big George landed a big shot on the team's psyche. The refs then totally took away all hope, and then the knockout came in the last 5 minutes.

GRAND FINALS 2 FROM 3 YEARS IS GOOD BUT THEY MEAN NOTHING IF WE CANNOT WIN THEM. I EXPECT A PREMIERSHIP WITH IN THE NEXT 2 YEARS. We are still not there yet with our backline

Storm beat Parramatta in the prelim... We lost to them in the second week from a Ricky Stuart shocker to Matt Geyer!!

1998 was the worst team on paper too make the GF probably ever, however the courage n determination to get there will go down in Bulldogs folklore!!!

How thin would your patience have been if you were born a Sharks or Cowboys fan? Or until yesterday a souths fan. They waited 43 years for that win. You are lucky to support a club that is so regularly successful. We still have won more premierships than any other club since 1980.
