When Melbourne beat Canberra tomorrow night.

For as brilliantly as we have started the season, and as much as we deserve to be first, a true reflection of just how important the Panthers two points were and now these two points are is the fact that when the Storm win, we will only be 2 points ahead of the Titans in 8th!

And the Titans, Broncos, Dragons and Knights all still have a bye.

Obviously there are still 16 weeks left in the season, but to think that Saints game was against a fellow top 4 rival and was a 4 point swing, and to see that we will be 2 points above 8th despite having a win loss record of 7-2 speaks volumes of just how significant these rulings against us could be later in the season in positioning for a finals berth.

If we lose the next three games we could slip right out of the 8, again, despite being 7-5 if that were to happen.

We are a much better team than that record could indicate and it is very important in the next few weeks we get some wins against fellow teams we are competing with for a top 4 spot.

Mentally we will have to be very strong next week against Melbourne and hopefully the boys can show the same resolve they showed in coming back against Saints and not let all of this get to them.

From what I have seen, the old Canterbury is back and we will again shine in the face of adversity.

Well the salary cap is working is what we will hear from Gallop lolll

But its true, every game is vital cause most teams are close, we need to beat other top 4 sides to show we are not pretenders and make a gap which we should already have on the rest of the league.

Scary statistics - and quite sad really. To think we have had all these fkn fiascos regarding those 4 points.

But rest assured, we will smash the Storm next week. I can't wait for it.

Cant believe this. WE deserve to be sitting pretty at the top with a 2-4 point lead.

In saying that, what hurts us will only make us stronger, its the way Canterbury is.

The only teams imo that cant win the comp are: sharks, roosters, raiders, eels.
Any other team has the ability to give it a go.
Really even comp this year.

We maybe only 2 points ahead of 8th (and some for and against) but we are already 10 points above where we finished last year....last.

At least we aren't taking our adversity in enema format like the Sharkies.

just means the boys will have to take each match more important than the last. we need to keep our for and against up because thats what is keeping us 1st.

When you consider Roberts is out and we may have Holdsworthless coming back with some tough games coming up, things might not be looking too great for us.

The thing is that ordinary, inconsistent and mediocre teams like Penrith, Wests Tigers, the Warriors, Souths, Nth Qld etc could well be ahead of us on the ladder in the next few weeks despite having played so much worse and losing more games.

Whereas these teams can get away with being inconsistent and ordinary and still be in the 8, we aren't afforded the same luxury and can't have have a poor run of a few weeks like they can because we have been stripped of those four points.

Hopefully we maintain our resolve in the next few weeks and this makes us that much tougher and even more determined.

When you think about it:

Vs. Melbourne - There is absolutely NO REASON why we shouldn't smash this team 13+. I'm sorry, but we are bouncing back after a loss - And although Melbourne can be good from time to time, if the Dogs can fire up after that loss then really it shouldn't be much of a contest at all.

Vs. Knights - They are in my opinion the most lethal team in the NRL right now, but we have an edge. State Of Origin. Gidley and hopefully Mullen will be out for this clash.. they'll be left stunned!

Vs. Broncos - This wil be the toughest match out of the three IMO. But I'm confident we'll come clean with the win.

Don't worry boys and girl (Paulina lol), some positive signs in the next few weeks I can feel it :grinning:
