When Melbourne beat Canberra tomorrow night.
For as brilliantly as we have started the season, and as much as we deserve to be first, a true reflection of just how important the Panthers two points were and now these two points are is the fact that when the Storm win, we will only be 2 points ahead of the Titans in 8th!
And the Titans, Broncos, Dragons and Knights all still have a bye.
Obviously there are still 16 weeks left in the season, but to think that Saints game was against a fellow top 4 rival and was a 4 point swing, and to see that we will be 2 points above 8th despite having a win loss record of 7-2 speaks volumes of just how significant these rulings against us could be later in the season in positioning for a finals berth.
If we lose the next three games we could slip right out of the 8, again, despite being 7-5 if that were to happen.
We are a much better team than that record could indicate and it is very important in the next few weeks we get some wins against fellow teams we are competing with for a top 4 spot.
Mentally we will have to be very strong next week against Melbourne and hopefully the boys can show the same resolve they showed in coming back against Saints and not let all of this get to them.
From what I have seen, the old Canterbury is back and we will again shine in the face of adversity.
