Today's "article" says we are the NRL club with the longest history against woman.

I did a very simple google check, actual "research", and found the following. There probably is more, but this is what I found. Journalist's really need to put their agenda down and report with "some" objectivity.

Roosters.
2012 – Leilua arrested and charged with Sydney Roosters centre Leilua was arrested and charged with assault, breaching an AVO and distributing photos of the woman via his mobile phone
2011 - Anthony Watts has been arrested and charged by police over an alleged domestic assault

Sharks
2009 - Group sex scandal in 2002. No charges laid at time. Woman says that players thought it was funny and leaves her traumatised.
2009 - Female Employee alledges that Sharks players given sex toys at training and strippers in dressing room after matches. Also, after giving her a black eye, she alledges that Zappia had offered to let her spank him as punishment for the black eye and had opened pornographic material on his computer while she was in the room with him.
2009 – Greg Bird Charged with 5 offences after alleged victim, 21-year-old Victoria Shannon, says the former Cronulla Sharks player punched her in the chest three times, poured vodka on her and threw a glass bottle at her at Fusion nightclub in Cronulla.
2008 – Greg Bird arrested and charged over incident in which a woman was allegedly hit in the face with a glass, suffering a fractured eye socket and severe lascerations.
2002 - February 2002 Players from NRL club Cronulla Sharks were investigated after a New Zealand hotel worker complained of being sexually abused. No charges.

Manly
2009 – Preseason function, Man allegedly assaulted by Watmough says that Watmough was harassing his 21 year old daughter. No charges laid.
2009 – Stewart arrested and charged over alleged sexual assault of 17 year old
2011 – Peter Peters stood down over sexist remark to reporter. As Sky News sports reporter Megan Barnard asked Glenn Stewart whether he was happy to have been given an adjournment (@ judiciary), the only response came from Peters "You're a good sort".

Tigers
2009 – Daine Laurie charged with assaulting his partner
2011 – Robert Leui arrested and charged with assaulting his partner.

Broncos
2008 - 3 players were being questioned over the alleged sexual assault of a woman in the toilets of the popular nightclub. No charges laid.

Souths
2013 - Ben Te'o under investigation for alleged assault of a woman. Investigation continuing after woman lodged formal complaint.

Storm
2009 - Inglis Charged with assaulting his girlfriend
2004 - 2 players under investigation for rape allegations. No charges laid.

NSW/ST George
2004 - Gasnier sacked for sending leaving lwed messages on a girls phone.

Warriors
2011 - Kevin Locke investigated over sexual assault claim. No charges laid.

However, journalists seem to remind us over and over about 2004 incident where NO arrest, and NO charge was EVER put to ANY player. Talk about agenda-pushing. In fact, I posted earlier, this is a DIRECT quote from a leading detective in the case

"Within the first forty-eight hours, approximately forty-eight hours, the .. we had twelve, twenty statements, for example of people that were in the area at the time. It just wasn't matching up. We still had to go through all the process of interviewing players and taking DNA, that was always going to happen. But within that short time that I just mentioned, it was becoming obvious to us as investigators that it was highly unlikely that anyone was going to be charged with the allegations"

"The evidence just wasn't there, it didn't support the rape allegations and as investigators we had very serious concerns; yet despite that, the aggressive police strategy continued week after week," he said. "There were warning bells that we would look silly. Everyone in the investigation saw the signs but the people above us were not listening - or if they were, they were ignoring them."

Why is the media so against our team?

Surely the NRL have to do something about this because its hurting one of their most profitable clubs/assets.

noad would have stood up for the club VIA a press release

I love women. but I don't like the smart blonde on the footy show and would of preferred a male CEO, they take things out of context.
Society is a disgrace in general.

It's all about getting people to read their article so anytime they mention the 2004 incident it's going to get people attention it was such a big story previously

I wrote this comment on the article page. i doubt it will be published because it has way too much truth:

how do the bulldogs have a troubled history with women? you give 2 examples:

1 Coffs Harbour scandal: no charges were laid. the club's name shouldn't be continually dragged through the mud because of unsubstantiated allegations from 9 years ago. There are many other players from other clubs that have been ARRESTED and CHARGED with assault against women in the last few years. Yet the case involving the bulldogs (which the police obviously didn't think there was a case) is being continuously brought up many years later

2 verbal abuse against a female reporter: an internal investigation showed the comments weren't directed at the reporter. actually, any idiot who looks into it a bit can see this...

so what was said?

"There are no old ladies here to stick their hands down your pants" in reference to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNH8XIt9FRg

"S . . k me off, you dumb dog" in reference to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=446XSEnBXNI

"I want to go and punch you in the face": this was sung in the tune of the "Barney" theme song. Josh morris was dressed up as Barney, so we can safely assume this was playfully sung to him in some way

In conclusion, you're morons

It is easier for the media to link the Bulldogs (through it's middle eastern section) with attitudes to women. Although as stated above, just have a look at the long list of players and clubs. And yet when people think women, they think of 2004.

maybe there is an underlining reason the dogs board chose a kiwi and a woman - they could be moving to kiwiLand in the future LOL hope not!

Mate, good work actually a good thread. Good to see someone actually taking the time to do the research on such a topic that is regarded in the NRL as one of the biggest No no's in our game. You should have the most Thumbs up for this post.

We as the Bulldogs just have a bad perception that can't be washed away no matter what we do, and what we've achieved. The perception will still be there and it's because those anti Bulldogs people are happy to remind society of our past whether it to be true or not.

Dont agree as Todd changed that perception about the club a great deal that is why we started to get all those sponsors.

As someone mentioned on another thread DT hasnt proven their gutter journalism for the first time.

he changed the perception from 2009 moving forward, but he legitimised the telegraph hack journalism regarding coffs harbour by going to them and asking for peace

its a complete departure from noad who banned the telegraph from speaking to the players, that sort of combative nature at least forced journalists to check themselves

Got to agree.. a great post and a very good thread.

However remember many clubs were once owned (partially or fully) by news limited, so things tended to get overlooked.

Perception is someones own view as to how they perceive it to be. It's someones own individual view which can be easily influenced by someone else's view whether to be true or not. You can't change that perception if it's going to be consistently reminded of.

He may have changed it but we are still perceive whatever way you or others see it.

ffs this thread reminds me of the epic noad press release and the war of 2005 which even led to wilson apologising for going too far

tbh i feel like a japanese soldier hiding in the jungle for 30 years and nobody has told me yet that the war is over and japan surrendered
