I've used them in the past to circumvent regional streaming restrictions, but don't really use them anymore.

I use 'Express VPN' when I travel to places like China. It works great and allows me to access Google, Gmail, whatsapp, etc.

I have used a bunch of different ones over time and there's not many I would actually recommend.

It depends what you're planning to do though. Now days they specialise. There's ones that specialise on gaming, ones that specialise on social media. They're all generally a bit slow on download but there's ones that specifically focus on download speeds.

If you're looking for full anonymity for certain... not so legal reasons, there's not many good options. Any VPN that dumps traffic through a country has to follow the laws of that country. For example, if you use a VPN that uses American ISPs for their redirection then someone sues that ISP for something you did, then that ISP will likely provide your full details to the plantiff.

That's one good thing with Australia. Even though our government provides metadata, the Australian judicial system protects the Australian public very strongly. They won't provide details to foreign entities including Hollywood companies, and the Australian judicial system had a landmark case a few years back that basically resulted in the Australian courts telling Hollywood to piss off when they attempted to fine Australians for piracy.

Both are good if you're just trying to either mimic another country or prevent country based restrictions.

I have surfshark, barely use it these days but it's reasonably fast compared to others I've used.

I’ve had both and prefer Nord. It’s easy to use & hasn’t stopped working like express did

Yep they saved my arse on that one I’ll give it to them.

Yeah I use express VPN. If you use crypto , download movies , use internet banking etc it helps massively from fraud. Also depending on your device you switch regions and can view movies on Netflix that aren’t on the Australian version . I.e switch to North America sna Fran sisco etc

I also use Express VPN when I travel. It works fine for me, but sometimes Telstra gets confused when it thinks there is too much traffic occuring over the ISP, and won't open emails. Other times it's fine. I certainly don't get the bucketloads of spam that I used to get using hotel wi-fi.

So you’re banging on about a ‘stolen’ election but are happy to download movies. No conflict there :-).

Well I have previously been downloading movies but bought a MacBook Pro which I only use for my tax so I don’t download anymore . But the difference between movies and elections is movies don’t affect how people live democratically financially and economically.

Really? So denying people of employment in content (crews, post production, marketing, distribution) due to piracy doesn’t ‘affect how people live financially and economically’?? I’ve seen the industry gutted first hand, but because it’s not stealing something physical like from a shop it doesn’t count? Zero credibility.

Don’t ask me I don’t steal movies. But it has nothing of the same vacinty as a nation which has 330 million people who’s legal right to vote has been stolen which by the way it’s going is pushing towards socialism. Many industries get ravaged by stolen goods, I.e retail , tradesmen, construction , online fraud etc . So don’t sit there and pretend it’s anywhere near the same category. That’s absolutely lunacy to even compare the two as they are in fact stealing yes but two completely different worlds.

Except that the election wasn’t stolen.
But that’s OK, keep harping on in the appropriate thread with all your ‘evidence’ :tearsofjoy:.
Meanwhile, back to VPN’s…
