Eddie Blacker would be good. Cmon Gus.
He would be a cheaper She Rex Mk2. Impressive looking specimen until the game starts. His chase on Drinkwater when we ran the cup side against the Cows was an outlier.

Saw a few of his games in NSW cup this year He is a big body gets noticed because of the occasional good run but doesnt do much imo - the other Penrith prop in NSW cup Liam Henry seemed far better -

Warriors removed Curran because they wanted to promote players from within. They had a Top 30 issue and solved it with ease and no financial loss. Manly backrow is Jake T, Schuster, Olakau'atu, Waddell and Ben T. Not sure they be in the market for another.

Dolphins have signed a few players and lost very few they be right on the edge of having 30.

Storm always like to pick up loose end signings with no financial impact on themselves. Depends how many Top 30 spots they have remaining.

All comes down to whoever has Top 30 spots available.

As each day passes the more the Bulldogs have to pay for RFM to be at another club next year, he remains in our Top 30 or he receives a full pay out. All those scenarios the only options and all bad business by the club.
It’s not bad business by the club…it is what happens that needs to be managed.

Liam Henry will be next up, should debut at same stage next year. Huge engine in that kid.

Just saw that Eddie Blacker has been released and has no transfer contract registered? Wonder if ??????
He could be a good minimum wage signing. When he does things he looks good but his motor isn’t huge. Maybe a 2 year deal with a club option on season 2? He does offer a big body which we our squad lacks. Could play a 25-30 minute cameo off the bench.

Reality is we need to add something in Prop rotation. Quality is not out there. We need to wade through the shallow end and find a few with a potential higher ceiling.

Sounds a bit like another Pele….agree may be worth a punt on 1 year contract to see how he goes

Quality players not out there but the NRL are going to expand the competition to 20 teams...go figure

True, i would rather Lindsay Smith or Thomas Hazelton from sharks. Needed a madman though AFB or Spencer Lenu.

Lindsey extended with Panther and Hazelton has a CO for 2025 pretty sure.

Expansion allows more quality to be developed more investment and more players.
They needed to increase the talent pool before expansion. There's already a more than visible gap in talent levels between the top 4-6 and the rest of the competition. You can pretty much rule out a third of the teams as realistic hopes of being premiership contenders before game 1. Expanding too quickly will only expand the gap between top and bottom teams. At minimum expansion needs to be accompanied by a potential allowance to recruit a marquee super league player with a big chunk of their wage outside of the cap if you've finished below a certain position on the ladder. We lose a good number of players to the super league comp. I think they still have an international player allowance.

Long term, paying another 30 players to join the NRL ranks will mean 30 lower quality players will drift into the NRL. They have to implement measures to ensure that the top third of teams aren't regularly demolishing the other 2/3 of the competition. It doesn't generate interest in the 2/3 of fans seeing their team and knowing they have no hope of competing for the premiership.
