What is his price tag? 800k?

Still think he is more of a center than a half.

I guess we have no choice or option at the moment , so we have to put up until he develops into a one.

Well he has the best support around him now.

So now everyone agrees that Sexton is a good HB, does that mean Burton has no more excuses not to step up and be the 5/8th we signed him to be?
He’s taken even more of a step back if that’s possible now Sexy is in good form lol. Truly a waste of cash, our defence is so good his long deep kicks that land 10m further than most other halves makes zero difference. Has basically no input into organising, forwards play, and attacking sets in opposition 20.

actually one of his few assets is his long deep kicks and it’s not just 10m more than any other half would get . He got us out of trouble this season many a time that no other half could have done .
Rest I do agree with .

Sexton has developed really well this year. The team is staying to a plan and Sexton is guiding the fowards to spots and then finishing off the good work. The key is that all runners around Sexton are all active and antipating the ball which causes confusion for defenders.

On the weekend, once in good attacking position, Sexton runs the plays towards Su'A and Hunt, knowing Su'A isn't a great defender. Sexton doesn't revert to the standard out the back ball to Burton but instead reads what the weak defenders are doing.

The first play, Su'A hangs back and Hunt runs slightly out of the line anticipating Kikau's run and Sexton sees this and is good enough to kick it out the back.

The second play Su'A rushes up to meet Sexton not wanting a repeat of before and then Hunt has to commit to Kikau and Sexton sees this and throws a needle like pass to hit Xerri on the chest running into the hole. Notice how the FOX is running full gas so this play could have easily gone to Burton then FOX.

Great execution on both. Kudos to Sexton and Jason Taylor. You can see that lot of training has gone into this and it's no fluke. Having said that, none of this happens without the crisp passes off the ground from Mahoney. Looking forward to the evolution of our spine combination.

Spot on, but it only works if Burton and JAC are available as options and Kikau is running the inside line. There is more than just Sexton and Xerri involved in that play, it took all 5 players playing their part to make it work.

I really enjoy watching Sexton continuously developing into a good game manager and is really executing his kicking and passing game to plan.
All this fascination with purchasing a ready made elite alpha prop on big dollars might bite us hard if we can't fit guys like Sexy into our cap.
I take the point in wanting a big body but how long have we needed a half like him over the years? The younger pups might not even cut it in the short term so probably best we not get ahead of ourselves and lock this guy up who is proving a job helping us win games.

Appreciate the break down and game knowledge, refreshing content compared to the niff nuffs always complaining
Thankyou

I still rate burton, he looks dangerous every time he has the ball.
long kicking game always gets us out of trouble.
Yep work in progress, let's see how he does for the rest of the year in terms of being damaging in attack.
Agree with your take on the long kicking game rather than the negatory ones, it's valuable I feel too.
MT's are an ongoing issue for him on an edge that I agree with.
V Dargons the intercept was good got us off to the right start, kicked 6/6 i'd definitely say a pass mark..need more to help the team go to the next level.

No long range kicks on the left for JAC yet in his 2 games back, might see one next week in Bundy.

I think it's pretty obvious that Ciraldo and Taylor have been "storing up" plays and structures, using them sparingly, just enough to test them out in game situations. But not too much so that the oppositions coaches can spot them as our regular go to plays in their video sessions.

I don't believe that it's an accident that Crighton scores 2 tries one week and none the next week, or JAC scores 2 tries one week and none the next week, ditto Kikau. Last week's high kicks were for Crighton and Kiraz, this week it was low kicks for Xerri and JAC. They are all indicators that they are sharing the plays around, not giving too much away.

Plus it's obvious that we use different plays and different structures against different teams, there is no "same old" in our attack. Having looked at the Broncos, Cowboys and Dargons games consecutively they were completely different, from the kick off to the siren. Anyone who thinks Burton's intercept was an accident is not really paying attention, that defence structure was set up deliberately for it, with cover in case it didn't come off.

We don't have a favourite attacking play, one that we rely on every time, variety is our go to, it must be a nightmare for the opposition to scout.

That probably explains Burton's 2 missed tackles on Hunt which led to mini breaks for dargons

I love when he runs it, always looks threatening
Imagine if he ran hard between two defenders shoulders while they are back tracking, quick play the ball if he doesn’t get through. Instead it’s an after thought when the play breaks down. Oh well I’m just hating

Burton has saved the Bulldogs on so many occasions in games. I agree he needs to get the ball and just run it. His kicking game is insane.
