Whenever I crave something that's not available, I just have something else.

Mlokhiyeh is a funny one though. When I was working in a fruit shop over 20 years ago a Lebanese man approached my boss (who was Italian) asking for mlokhiyeh (it was around January/February), my boss looked towards me and I had a blank expression, I had no idea what it was. I told him to write it down on a piece of paper. Eventually we found a supplier and bought some for the shop, but there wasn't much.

When I got home that night I asked my dad if he'd ever heard of it, and it was something he used to have in Lebanon. Not something that's very popular here though.
I think it's an Egyptian thing more than Lebanese. Plus they use duck stock instead of chicken stock.

Hate this thread because I get ground up bad

Folks who say I cant speak to that WTF you can speak to a person not a thing. Bloody hate it.

Sales folk who are now for 5 minutes my bestie.....piss off.

Contacting tradies for a quote and never getting a call or they come out waste my time and never send the quote

Coles 5 Dock ( picking stuff up when visiting one of the kids) that have permanently closed their Express Aisle so if I pick up 2 or 3 things I have to go to the Express and do work myself while they get rid of staff......give me a 10% discount then grubs.

They've cut back on staff, the hours they'll pay the remaining staff to work (nighfull staff are a thing of the past) all while using predatory tactics to price gauge.

It seems like they've tried to step things up since the government decided to tackle the cost if living crisis. Wouldn't surprise me if they've decided they'll try to oust them for having the audacity to think they'll introduce practices that stop them.from. Being predatory.

Bit of a weird one this. At the dentist this morning finalising a referal and bill etc at the front counter and heard some noisy dicks behind me and next to me. Turns out its one Anthony Mundine. And his minder (who seemed about 5' tall).

Anyways, he takes a seat and he's on the phone (speaker) waffling away and his minder is also yelling into the phone. Think about saying something but then went fck it - I'm out of here in a minute. Mundine is displaying his full innner bogan - swearing etc.

Anyways - he gets called in for whatever and guess what - his minder goes in with him. Can hear them still carrying on and wait for it - whatever he was getting done - he wanted to stay on the phone call for it.

So tbf - all the other stuff is neither here or there. My gripe is Mundine. Damn most irritating human I can ever remember.

It is but it depends where you’re from in Lebanon and every village makes it different. Some make it with lamb (which I absolutely hate, chicken or nothing) and some cook it until it’s dry and stringy with no zoom :rage:
but it’s much more popular and well known than most think

Yeah, it’s a village thing for sure and just like other dishes like the vegetarian kebah made with pumpkin and chickpeas, normally made during lent but eaten all year round.

I’ve met many Lebanese people that don’t know what it is.

Not a lot of people do, imagine baked kebah with the spices etc but made with pumpkin, chickpeas, bulgar and onion. It’s delicious, even make a version with stuffed spinach.

Next time I have it I’ll send a picture.

Wow another last ditch effort, perspective is something everyone has and my version is always different to the plug ins who will say anything to justify their involvement which is nothing more than a power trip

Gee Im a whingy old fuck.
Country roads are a joke, they have the road speed signage up the shit.
While they might indicate its a 90 kay section there is a tight curve fifty meters the other side of it, what if some some 20yo drives off a cliff?
All councils need to review their areas and rectify this glaring trap that dates back to the sixties.
It seems Sydney drivers are the worst though, shocking statistics so far a horror movie.
Dont think the news on TV only happens to other people, death is real.

Put an RB26 head on a RB30 and you get jet howl but the turbo single cam head was Australia only and that turbo whistle was sweet.
Emmision laws these days are save the koala.
Saab and Volvo are an acquired taste.

For all my Lebanese people,
When I have to wait until January for Mlokhiyeh to be in season before I can get mum to make it for me because the frozen one is shithouse! Why can’t we get it season round, the cravings are heavy AF and because of that my mum accused me of being pregnant (which I’m definitely not FYI!) Just because I have cravings doesn’t mean I’m with child, I just want Mlokhiyeh FFS! :rage:

And before anyone asks why I don’t make it, it’s the only Lebanese dish I cannot master and I will not spend anymore time or waste anymore mlokhiyeh leaves trying :tearsofjoy:

I feel your pain. Not about Mlokhiyeh. Never heard of it before today. But I love potato bake. It's available year round and all but I can't for the life of me make it. Not from a packet mix, not from online recipes. I don't know why. I guess everybody has a culinary Achilles heel that is one of their favourites. Potato bake is mine.
What is the issue you're having?

Because the cops got another 20G so do the nurses, the Sydney Trains, the Fire brigade and any other state fooker on 40 an hour.
Isnt the country broke after covid cost us a few billion yet the Unions cant wait to suck the state dry?
Inflation being such an issue, let's exasperate the problem by demanding higher wages to cope with it, rather than reign in our spending to cope.
Fuck, society is stupid!
