My ancestors, the Ancient Assyrians, actually invented the first spy "plane".
They would catch and starve 8-10 eagles (large ones like the Australian eagle and not the pussy Murikan ones), tie them to a large basket where a child could fit in. The child would hold a long stick with a piece of lion meat hanging off it to direct the eagles over our victims encampments and draw rough maps and layouts.
