Jake Friend and Sandor Earl are free to play for Sydney Roosters against St George-Illawarra at WIN Jubilee on Friday night.
Roosters officials said the pair would not be stood down after they were charged with assault following a fight at an inner-Sydney nightclub, saying they would back the players' version of events until the players' appearance at Downing Centre Local Court on July 20.

The officials did say, however, that the club would review its alcohol policy for players.

there is so much disparity between punishment
*glassing gets a year
* sexual assault gets 4 weeks
* domestic violce gets nothing
* drink driving gets 2 weeks

the punishment should be as follows

summary offense

1st offence 1 month
2nd offense 3 months
3rd offense 1 year
4th offense life

indiatble offense
* charged ban till case comes to court
* found guilty life ban
found not guilt free to play no further action

WTF? How can their sponsors not be spewing having 2 charged players representing the Roosters this weekend and in coming weekends? Surely that alone is enough for the Roosters to suspend them until the court case.

If Gallop doesn't step in there are so many double standards on show. He forced Manly to suspend Stewart so same should apply here no questions asked.

I also cant believe how defiant the Roosters are...they know good and well what has to be done, what the expectation has been this year, but they are just like f$%k it, we'll let them play anyway until the NRL stops us..

Ahhhhh the NRL hey?

So Gallop steps in straight away and suspends Stewart 4 or 5 games when Manly name him to play after ALLEGATIONS of unproven sexual assault and after Stewart got nothing more than p*ssed at a club function yet the Roosters name these two chumps and what does Gallop do? Nothing? And he still has a job? No one does or says anything about the mind boggling inconsistencies of his regime?

Perhaps Gallop felt sympathetic and refused to remove another two players from the lineup, since they already suck so badly.

A good friend of mine is a long time female roosters supporter and says that she feels disresepcted as a female supporter of the game in the way the roosters are carrying on and letting these players take the field! These two jokers, Fittler, Cherrington.. They are loosing fans quickly.

What a disgusting move by the Roosters! Gallop you dirty hypocrite!
