Joseph Manu rejects Warriors

Joey Manu is staying at the Roosters despite a huge offer from the Warriors.
Michael Carayannis and Brent Read

Joey Manu will reject interest from the Warriors to ink a contract extension with the Roosters.

It is understood Manu, 25, will remain at the Roosters until at least the end of 2024 which will make take him to nine seasons in the top grade at the club.

The Warriors were keen to sign Manu and had promised the million dollar contract left behind by ex-Rooster Roger Tuivasa-Sheck who switched to rugby in the off-season.

Manu was also expected to make a permanent switch to the halves if he joined the Warriors. The transition into the halves at the Roosters will be a few years away yet with Luke Keary returning next season from a serious knee injury while boom teenager Sam Walker is the club’s long-term no.7.

how is that for being loyal......don't see that often these days. Uncle Nick magically keeps another star.

Only at the Roosters, $$$$ talks, of course they stay for less, a unit at Bondi a new car and a job for the partner are just bonuses.

Nobody ever leaves the Roosters, unless they don't want them

We match their offer and he stays with the club he's happy at and has won two premierships with versus a club where careers go to die? Diabolical!

So... player turns down an offer to return to his home country AND earn 33% more because he is "loyal" to the chooks.

Maybe he hates his in laws.
Maybe if he returns home he knows his family will sponge more than the 35% off him.
Maybe there are more NZer's living in Bondi than in NZ, so he feels more at home here.
Maybe the Chooks are actually paying him more than they declare in the Cap.
Who knows.

If your comments were multiple choice answers I would take option 4..........

The game is a joke when certain clubs can always supposedly demand 1/4 of a million dollars or better worth of loyalty a year from players. Maybe it'd be believable once or twice. But the Roosters must have half dozen huge names at present supposedly sacrificing 200k plus a year supposedly for loyalty. Odds are that it's never going to be punished unless a few players spill the beans. But if that happens I'll be cheering.
