Worried Eels might pick him up. We really should be revisiting that player swap with JAC for Matterson again this off season or maybe before Aug 1
Just the thought of that makes me sick

Our biggest weakest is our fb and our middle forwards, in recent years wingers have been used as forwards when taking the ball up.
Skelton yould do the work of a forward taking the ball up and would help our forwards no end, I believe he would be the best winger for us at it in that department, and with our middle forwards not been the best in the comp his carries would be invaluable
IMHO Cirro's selections are difficult to understand.

Exactly. Anyways any potential flaws in his ”defence” are far outweighed by his ball carries, try’s and try assists. Also Wilson is far from a perfect player. Drops a lot of easy ball, has gone out in potential try shoring situations a few times.

Yes Wilson is a kid who plays with heart. But if you give opportunity to others with flaws in your game you shouldn’t be guaranteed a spot.

Anyways Skeltons chance was probably against the rooster. Jac out, Wilson a late scratching. For continuity it would have helped us slotting a big winger in. For what ever reason he wasn’t Ciros choice (be it suspension, attitude, wanting to blood Xerri). Don’t even remember if he was in the 22 man squad. But he definitely wasn’t in the 19 24 hours before kick off.
I thought he's currently suspended, therefore unable to be picked against the roosters.

cut from the team list, only sexton and Turpin left as reserves
I wonder if game day Tracey and kikau are ruled out if we can bring in a like for like replacement. But it’s a serious smoke screen. To go to that length to cut a player then he plays.

With the number of concussions these days and backs being just as vulnerable to head high tackles as forwards are I see an outside back like Skelton as the "best fit" for 18th man.

My favoured bench has always been 2 props, a back rower and a spine utility. This covers most scenarios except being forced to play a 2nd rower in the centres.

Moving a winger to centre and bringing Skelton or another outside back on as18th makes more sense than another half. Mann when fit can play in the halves.

With the amount of injuries that can happen these days, and which we saw last season and are seeing again already this season, we need BOTH Fox and Skelly. And Kiraz and Wilson, and Tracey, and Xerri. Blokes like Samrani and Clark are an outside chance of seeing some game time.

Skelton knows that he is close to seeing some more FG. For the sake of my man @The DoggFather I hope it is soon, but it will happen, and when it does if he can replicate his work with the ball that he has been doing in Cup, and there are no tries down his side of the field (you don't get chalked up for a missed tackle when your opposing winger goes in untouched), and we are winning with him in the team, then he has a good chance of keeping his spot.

Last time I watched Skelton he certainly seemed like a defensive liability. I’m assuming that still an issue and that’s why the coach won’t pick him yet. I would love to see a huge winger in our colours in first grade. But if they can’t defend they are no use at all.

I think when Gus labels someone ‘a project’, he means they are gonna take a while. He’s not as impatient as some of us to see Skelton in 1st grade, but still reckons he’ll get there. I just hope it’s with us!

I'd like to see Skelton develop as a specialist 17.
To come on early in the backs or forwards if there is an early injury as a strike weapon late in a tight game.

I have banged on about this for ages but the NRL has made the game too fast and too high impact and players bodies are not keeping up.

Because the NRL won't be able to slow the game up, teams have to adjust.

And one adjustment is the regular selection of a bench player who can be an early replacement or a strike player.

Skelton is perfect for that role.

What is Ciraldo seeing/not seeing in him that we're missing?
He appears to be a coach who picks effort players who are predictable and won’t “lose you a game” rather than guys who are unpredictable, with X factor make the odd mistake but can win you a game with a moment of brilliance.
