Bulldogs general manager of football Steve Price has reportedly put the players' group offside after instructing the clubs departing stars to "clean out their lockers" ahead of Canterbury's final match of the season on Saturday.

Amid a turbulent year at Belmore riddled by reports of infighting among club powerbrokers, the Bulldogs turned heads one last time when they announced eight players would not be offered a contract in 2021 ahead of round 20.

Alongside star playmaker Kieran Foran, Aiden Tolman, Marcelo Montoya, Kerrod Holland, Jack Cogger, Sauaso Sue, Tim Lafai, and Isaiah Tass are set to depart, as incoming coach Trent Barrett's cleanout begins to firm ahead of his 2021 appointment.

But according to Nine's chief rugby league reporter Danny Weidler, a heavy-handed edict from Price to his departing stars ahead of their 42-0 loss to Penrith on Saturday has rocked the club just as it seemed their torrid year was behind them.

"I'm hearing a few stories coming out of the Bulldogs in the last 24-48 hours, their general manager of football Steve Price has upset a few of the players," Weidler told Nine's 100% Footy.

"The players who are leaving the club were told at the captain's run prior to their game on the weekend to make sure that they cleaned out their lockers. It didn't go down very well with the players, the ones who are departing.

"He repeated that edict to them after the game as well. They put on a pretty bad performance the Bulldogs. They've really tried hard all year. I don't know how much that affected them or not but I do know that one of the key Bulldogs players who's going to be there next year has let his feelings known to Steve Price, exactly what he thought of that instruction.

"So, simmering tensions around management now off the field and some of the players in the club."

Earlier this month the Bulldogs were rocked by reports of infighting among the club's powerbrokers who had reportedly drawn battle lines between the franchise's leagues club and football operations.

At the centre of the feud are allegations that leagues club chair George Coorey was forced to bring in lawyers after chair of the football club, Lynne Anderson, attempted to have him removed during a high-level board meeting over claims of inappropriate behaviour towards female members.

Compounding the factional divide, club CEO Andrew Hill and football manager Steve Price are reportedly at loggerheads, with board member Paul Dunn stepping in to mediate the relationship.

Well it seems a fair comment what did they expect it’s there last game clean everything out.
Maybe it would be better to wait till after the game to reinforce a negative that 8 players have been given their marching orders and to clear out their stuff?

It’s all bullshit news
They were cooking and helping poor people. They don’t mention that in the media. There like to put the club down.
It's not BS. Many people know of other internal rumblings inside the bubble. That 16 of the players attended that community event is testament to their character.

Another dopey scribe looking to put the boot in..One minute we are feeding the homeless and nek minut we are heartless bastards dumping our discarded players on the street. Sadly, the story would have come from somewhere and no doubt its one of the un-wanted players who has had a whinge.

If there is any truth to the comments then its a HR issue that Canterbury should address because the process of letting someone go is every bit as important as the one hiring them. Regardless of the fact we dont wish to keep these staff (players) they should be thanked for their services to the club and let go with class, not "clean ya locker out", if of course any of this actually happened..

Precious self entitled players. I dont have a problem with this. we do everything to comer across right and socially right but our playing group need a kick up the arse.
Abit rich before a game mate? You could maybe say if it was after the game he pissed with the performance or whatever but you know with price it’s not the case and couldn’t give a fuck from the things we’ve heard already he’s abit of a power tripper and seems to have an agenda

Fuck Danny Weidler! Wow, what a news story.. Players who are cut or released from their team are unhappy about not having a new contract.. That clearly only happens at our club and not the other 15 teams..

It really is amazing that a weasel like him can make some shit up, put some spin on it and all of a sudden a 15th placed team releasing dead weight as it looks to rebuild is in "crisis" once again..

We need to sign Ben Teo as our media manager so that whenever Weidler is around he can headbutt him.

Before shooting your mouths off about the players, think how you'd like to be treated when leaving your place of employment and even before your last game AND farewell presentation.

We bag other teams. Do you think Roosters and Storm would be doing this BEFORE the last game to be played and BEFORE club farewell presentations?
