We should do the noble thing and invite JAC in for training and use of our facilities while he's in Sydney.
Even if he ends up back in Melbourne in 2021, it'll be good for the squad to have him at training and a bit of a head start for 2022.

I find it hard to believe Reimis was on 450k a season. Even more so I don't think the Storm would pay that so we'd have to be contributing towards that with at least 100k if it was true. The Storm had JAC on 350k until this year. With change around the club and especially the coach and new players coming in I'd like to think it would of been a new start for Reimis. I still find it hard to believe we traded Reimis for nothing (as we could of signed JAC regardless), but what's done is done.
We didn’t trade him for nothing mate. It was done to clear cap space. Obviously Baz didn’t rate him so he moved him on.

The money saved was then used to sign Corey Allan

Exactly 100% agree with this, people forget that not every early release needs a replacement. The freed up cap space alone is more than enough incentive for an early release for Reimis Smith or any player that is not in the future plans of the club. People get fixated on needing a like for like replacement for any release these days thinking that the club has been ripped off if one isn't received, but this is a lot different to the club releasing a player they want to keep due to the player agitating for it. Releasing dud players to other clubs is a vital way to get the cap space to sign the players that we want moving forward (even if we have to pay freight). It's stupid to think we would keep a player like Smith out of "principle" and miss out on a potential future player we want moving forward.

Yep players get moved on all of the time to free up cap space . It’s happening with Allan at South’s, Mansour at Penrith , Ofehengau at Brisbane. If a team has excess depth in a certain position they will move a player on to either upgrade existing players or strengthen another area.

Baz obviously thought we were ok for wingers but needed to strengthen other areas so our wingers were shopped around. The storm seen something in Smith and got him.

Yep I hope their systems are extra strong or they may have wasted their money. Hope for Remis's sake I am wrong. I liked the guy but I think his heart wasnt really in it for us at least.

Am pretty sure he will do well down there mate. At least in 2021 with Bellamy

Most improve there but not all. Kasiano was one who didn’t

The only thing I don't like about our backline is that we clearly lack a aerial specialist close to the line. As much as Smith pissed me off that was his strength. Once we have Flanagan and Burton together I'd hate for us not to have an option like that too target... Happy with the release even though he will do well at Melbourne, just interested to see how Baz plays this out

Unless there's some contractual issue around it, which there probably is, it'd be a great move.
I doubt Melbourne would look at us as a threat to them this year, in fact it would benefit them if JAC had inside info when we play them.
Our players can learn off him, feed off his energy and get to know him and vice versa before 2022.
Our performance staff can feedback to their performance staff and he'll be fit and ready when he can join them. If the borders stay closed the whole comp will relocate to NSW anyway.

I’m tellin his at the dogs 21 I can feel it
He did have a post before this saying how keen he is to get back to Melbourne to have 1 last year with them... Could be good PR to not sent his character but yeah I've got my fingers crossed here as we need him
