gday
looking at our rooster in 2009 we really lack strike second rowers and locks

reni , dan williams, gary, Yileen Gordon,
i would say brad morrin 8/11
all off contract and really only reni thats quality
garys young and up and coming but nothing special

so we have a problem and need it fixed
as far as i know

the list below shows quality second rowers so who interests u and why

ben creagh
Lagi Setu --maybe become a mormon for 2years
Junior Paulo
Cory Paterson
Fraser Anderson3/11

most only young and can only get better
can really see any young dogs stepping up in 2009
and that includes dan harrison his too smal for nrl

id go junior has an offload and pace and footwork.and because his relativly new to nrl should be around $200,000

lmaoo

richie, sorry mate, you have no idea

Harrison too small? are you kidding yourself? The best players of our game in the world are small men eg Lockyer

We haven't got amazing depth, but its alright. Players like Paki Afu and Tapau in the u/20s are good players, and can play wide IMO.

All im saying is we have good young products coming through, why buy?

remember quality not quantity and the only quality in your 2nd rowers IMO is creagh.

Lockyer doesn't play backrow

Paki and Taupau are better suited to the front row and our front row depth isn't greagt so we'll need them to step up there. I think Paterson and Creagh would both be great buys

Yes, it is about time someone said this.

one minute everyone whinges about how other clubs like manly and the roosters go and buy premierships, then on the other hand all they want to do is go out and sign every player that comes off contract.

juniors FTW

know what you're saying ;)

but i'm guessing it's only at the moment as we are doing such a massive rebuild

once we start getting the club flowing and moving as it should, i would imagine chatter about buying off-contract players willy nilly will die down

completely agreed though, juniors all the way

if we can keep this current direction, we should start to really bear the fruit of the club's labour in the not too distant future and see a regular rise of our junior programs

well, the theory is sound anyways :p

i belive we can get there soon enough though :grinning:

Spot on m8, heres some boys that will surprise us next yr:

Harlan Alaalatoa- is extremely under rated, damaging 2nd rower
Daniel Harrison- next big thing
Paki Afu- maybe too young for first grade, might slip in if injuries. (next roy asotasi)
Martin Tapau- Aussie schoolboy still eligable for toyota cup expected to play 1st grade
Nath Smith- Is going to be promoted to the senior squad this yr

fraser anderson definately the pick. lagi setu can also have a good game as he did for Samoa throughout the world cup.

Are you forgetting John kite, daniel harrison, Chris Ward from the 20's??? There quality players mate. Watch for them in a couple of years maybe even next year.

my analysis of our youngsters:
Harlan Alaalatoa- Not NRL ready yet, and abit small for NRL level
Daniel Harrison- Needs to add another 10kg atleast to his frame otherwise he'll be nothing but cannon fodder
Paki Afu- Still a good 18 months off 1st grade atleast, still unfit and needs to work on his conditioning, besides is a prop
Martin Tapau- Is a prop and was still playing sg ball this year, for those who don't know there's a massive difference between sg ball and 1st grade especially for a prop which he is.
Nathan Smith- Not 1st grade material
Gary Warburton- Tries hard but doesn't seem up to it
John Kite- Is a prop and always will be

harlan a good player but not ready for nrl

paki more of a prop 24+ months i would think
martin a gun with a good offload as well but still at least 2-3years i reckon
prop is very hard when your young and not as big as experienced nrl player
etc petro, brent kite ---huge compared to these guyes
