Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs News ..

Bulldogs v Rabbitohs: Dogs quartet racing the clock; Johnston in doubt

Sparks are expected to fly at Accor Stadium when the Bulldogs and Rabbitohs meet at Accor Stadium for the annual Good Friday clash.

Since the first Good Friday clash between the old rivals in 2007, there has been plenty of big moments, including the fiery 2015 encounter when Adam Reynolds and James Graham took centre stage as the Bunnies prevailed 18-17.

After celebrating his return to the NRL in the thrilling golden point win over the Cowboys on Sunday, club legend Josh Reynolds is set to play his first Good Friday match since leading the Bulldogs to a stunning 24-9 victory in 2017.

The Rabbitohs have made Good Friday their own in recent years, winning seven of 10 clashes since 2012, including a 36-16 victory last year on the back of Damien Cook's first career hat-trick.

South Sydney will be hungry for redemption after several frustrating losses this season, falling to the Panthers by just six points, the Roosters by two and most recently the Storm by eight and the next month doesn’t get much easier with Friday’s match followed by clashes with the Dolphins, Panthers and Broncos.

Jason Demetriou won't be content with sitting 13th heading into Round 6 and will need his men to clean up last week’s errors (11) and completion rates (77 per cent) if they're to bring home the chocolates.

Team News
Bulldogs: Forward Raymond Faitala-Mariner is likely out after failing a HIA on in Sunday's match, meaning young lock Kurtis Morrin could join the starting side. With Jayden Okunbor facing a one-match suspension, Braidon Burns could be called in for his first game of the season. Meanwhile, with Franklin Pele suffering a suspected broken arm against the Cowboys, Jackson Topine or Andrew Davey are options to take his spot on the bench. Max King (eye) and Jacob Preston (hand) will also need to be cleared after freak injuries last week. Viliame Kikau will miss another week after suffering a Category 1 head knock at training last Friday.

Rabbitohs: Alex Johnston is racing the clock after suffering a head knock in his side's Round 5 loss to the Storm which could see Taane Milne return to the NRL for the first time this season. Campbell Graham did not train on Monday but is in no doubt for the clash. Jai Arrow and Tevita Tatola are nearing returns but it's unlikely to be on Good Friday.
Johnston being out would be handy ... he scores tries for fun against us.

If we're being honest we should rest young Preston this week as he's played 5 big matches in a row for a young rookie it's a smart move to give him a break , a lot of the good coaches rest their young rookies thru the year.

Also would be a great idea to give Max King the week off too , as we all know he's been absolutely killing it for us and been playing big minutes with an injury

We give Topine and Morrin more minutes on the field and maybe even give another young fella from nsw cup a crack too

We give these boys a rest and then we get some troops back for the week after and we come back all guns blazing nice and refreshed

Thoughts ?

This is a scheduled loss. Even the best of teams would struggle playing on Sunday night and backing up on Friday afternoon.
This is absolutely horrendous, Let alone with most of our pack injured and the let down of an emotional high of a golden point win.

I fear for our team. What were they thinking when they did this draw?????

Souths will be fired up especially with Mitchell being bagged about motivation.

Obviously we still hope for a win but it is pretty much in the too hard basket.
Great to some positive thinking around here. Oh wait, my bad, what a stupid thread!

Fuk everyone other than us. Perfect time to set our own agenda. Even though we are a new team we have more heart than Souths. Who cares if our soft highly paid forwards that are always injured aren't around. Fuk them too. Underdogs will triumph and the victory will be sweet! Beating Souths is an easy gameplan. Put angry ant Walker off and absorb the 10 minutes Latrell plays and it's game over.

South’s are not that good, we can kick their ass ..

Go Bulldogs
As usual the NRLol will play them into form on Good Friday…

Short turnaround is a big issue but I heard the refs will be wearing red and green shirts for this match

Half our starting pack is injured the forwards we do have are busted and we will probably lose a few more before kick off, we are missing some key outside backs and our HB will be starring in a new season of “Cats” the musical…………………………..South’s better fucking brace themselves. Dogs by four.
Beware the wounded Dog.

So imagine how great it's going to be when the Boys manufacture one of "The Club’s Greatest Victories Of All Time".

Just think about all the adversity the boys are facing going into this game on Friday and then think about everything that CC, Gus & the club has been trying to ingrain into the minds and hearts of these boys to understand & believe what Bulldog means.

In a weird way, this week is exactly what these boys need and will be written into the clubs folklore to highlight exactly what this club is built on and stands for from this point on.

5 Day Turn around because the NRL want to screw us

6 first 17 Forwards Out

2 first 17 Forwards playing busted

Rank outsiders
Etc, etc

And then throw in for some extra spice, a veteran player returning to once again play on Good Friday just like he did all those years ago when we got ripped off in 2015...... back with a vengeance.

I'm telling you all, this weeks game has the potential to be legendary - I can just see it now.

It's not a conspiracy theory it is a fact a large number of supporters believe that the National Rorts League and for many years has got it in for us,

we’ve got an injury crisis and they’re all forwards, why would we rest someone when there’s nobody to replace them.. they get paid to play 27 games, if available they should play

Short turnaround but at least we didn't have to travel. The fill in forwards have been great this year hopefully it continues on Friday.
