Roosters will get him for peanuts and win their 3rd comp in a row and the next day an article will be released saying "how do they do it! Roosters win 3rd straight title while being 100k under the cap".

Love how they are all downplaying SBW almost as though to try and make it no big deal when the roosters sign him. Hooper we know you read the forum. You’re a peanut

So they're reporting that Money Bill will sign for the Roosters for less than 100k as he'll only play the last five games and they'll offer him a "coaching role" if his deal with Toronto falls through.

And of course, no one questions if the Roosters should be allowed to sign him well below his "market value". Instead Uncle Nick gets praised for his handshake deals and the media talk about how much cap space the Roosters have.

Fuck I hate this corrupt league. WWE is less fixed than this shit.

In 2012 the Eels traied to sign Israel Folau. They wanted to sign him for 150k in his first year to be under the cap which was way under his value. They werent allowed!
How can the rorters sign a player thats worth 5 mil a year for a pittance?
Fkn rorters.
This should not be allowed to happen.

Why are you all getting your knickers in a knot, it's a publicity stunt. It would be the same for whoever signed him, max 4-5 games out of him at most by the time he gets here, quarantines for two weeks, trains and gets up to speed. And I reckon he'll be injured for 2 of those 4 games.

All of that is probably right and he won't make much of a difference on the field as he's shit now anyway.

It's more the principle that such a deal would be approved when he's earning 1/10th of what he was on at Toronto per game. Or that a "coaching job" has been promised just like Souths did with Inglis with his welfare officer role. Such deals are massive loopholes and shouldn't be allowed.

Loopholes are one way to look at it, another is they are starting their apprenticeship to maybe becoming head coaches. 15 out of 16 current head coaches are ex players and I'll bet they all started out running the water.

I don't trust that the NRL would be so strict. And even then the Roosters shouldn't have any cap space left as we all know they're blatantly cheating the cap.

If he signed, he'd have about 8 games plus finals to play. So considering he's worth $2 million a season with the Wolfpack, he couldn't be on a minimum deal with another club in the NRL.

This is about parity in the competition. And there is none right now. They can't allow the Roosters to sign Money Bill for fuck all.
yeh agree but we know it will happen tho

We all know $BW isn't going to grind being an assistant coach or running water as a trainer and will instead chase money to wrestle in the WWE or having a boxing match against a bear or some shit.

Can afford him for 2nd half of the year due to being $200k under the cap. Next year they’ll sign Fifita for $1M and say it’s the money from not re-signing SBW and they still have left over cap for another gun player.

lol probably, but my point was all clubs offer ex-players roles post playing days, including yours.

Yeah but Sonny Bill is a different beast. He's a mercenary who only cares about money and doesn't love Rugby League.

Whereas a fringe first grader like Trent Robinson lives and breathes Rugby League and would be willing to put in the work it takes to be an assistant or a head coach.

SBW is after trophy he won’t be coming to us coming last. He picked his fights. He played rugby for NZL and he went to roosters. Would love to see him back developing our juniors. And would be a great story of redemption. But it’s not a book and he wants to go down as a great. Not a last place getter
That's what people tend to ignore. The All Blacks and the Roosters would of still won without him, he plays well in a well playing team, even did it with us in 04.

We have seen what he does in a struggling team, he packs his bags and runs away like a bitch.
