I hadn't heard mention of Kasiano in a long while. When he burst onto the scene he was a battering ram that handed out quality offloads like they were candy. He'd regularly knock defenders on their ass and was all round a monster. But unlike most props he didn't improve with age.

I've got no idea why, but he took huge backwards strides before his time with us ended. He wasn't George Rose level overweight, but he was overwright. Bellamy got him looking super fit. But in losing weight big Kas just looked lanky like an AFL player without the same level of muscle tone and wasn't as hard to bring to ground. Bellamy might've got more minutes from Kas, but with us he was still hard to tackle. The new lightweight kas didn't thrive under Bellamy as expected. If I had to hazard a guess they pushed diet too hard with Kas and he lost more muscle than fat. I rate the body transformation as one of Bellamy's biggest errors.

As far as recruitment now. He's been past his best since about his third season with us. I can't imagine that half a preseason here would be a huge success in getting him NRL ready. At best I'd go train and trial with him and hope he surprised. If he was able to crack the NRL even with our depth and quality issues at prop, I don't think he'd improve the situation. So even a train and trial would be a real long shot.

Absolutely. Same as how Ellery Hanley was reckless for having his head in the way of Baa’s swinging arm I mean legitimate tackle in the 1988 GF. #Careless :-).
I wasn't watching league when I was 7, have to try and find that clip.

I remember that. He blatantly used his head to attack the arm of an innocent player - should have been marched!

I’d have to go through the footage to find the hit - you can see it but not by today’s standards. Would be a highly illegal play today and Ellery was in Disneyland when escorted off:

All was forgiven years later though:

Wouldnt even be a good mentor, we dont need anyone to show young players how to run in a straight line for 10 minutes a game and miss 5 tackles

I’ve got the DVD of the game - I know it exists, I’ll see what I can find for you later.

Fat boy struggled in the number 1-2
Ranked pack in the game under old wrestling rules. You want him at middle age, in the six again era with the weakest pack ever assembled in professional rugby league. Hahahaahahahhabaahha
