The fact that we could lay out all the headline front/back page stories they ran and it'd cover a football field vs the retraction article they had to print which was buried in the middle of the papers and was basically the equivalent of the top of a cigarette pack still annoys the hell out of me.I still burn about that. Unfortunately as we all know sh@t sticks. The media has a lot to answer for it as well.
And the chief investigating officer basically admitted that it went that way because the officers under him were to blame for not dispelling it points to the fact that they profited too.
And yeah the mud stuck. Had a few people at pubs at the time try to needle me and call me a rapist because I proudly wore the jersey throughout the time it was going on. Surprised it still gets me ruled up just thinking about it all now.
