I still burn about that. Unfortunately as we all know sh@t sticks. The media has a lot to answer for it as well.
The fact that we could lay out all the headline front/back page stories they ran and it'd cover a football field vs the retraction article they had to print which was buried in the middle of the papers and was basically the equivalent of the top of a cigarette pack still annoys the hell out of me.

And the chief investigating officer basically admitted that it went that way because the officers under him were to blame for not dispelling it points to the fact that they profited too.

And yeah the mud stuck. Had a few people at pubs at the time try to needle me and call me a rapist because I proudly wore the jersey throughout the time it was going on. Surprised it still gets me ruled up just thinking about it all now.

Yeah. It’s always the way. The media can write volumes of accusations and he said/ she said and get the exclusives from the alleged victims great aunt and uncle and print it as gospel. They hide behind the sanctity of their sources and them remaining anonymous. They get some thing wrong and it is not their fault as they have taken the word of their source . Then when it is obvious that somethings said are bordering on libellous you get the shitty little retraction/ apology which is basically designed to justify their right to put the story out there. And yes everything dirty gets front page and the oops sorry buried. I remember hubby telling me of the night he went to Allianz ( or whatever it was called then) to watch Round 3 Dogs vs Roosters knit long after the story broke and the disgraceful behaviour of some fans who thought it might be ideal to tip cups of urine from the upper levels onto some Dogs supporters. Those people would of had every right to have a go at them but thankfully restrained themselves. That was not made common knowledge as far as I know but those around the area knew about it.

Q: Whats the difference between child birth and supporting Parramatta?

A: Supporting Parramatta is more painful.

I hope they copped life bans from the venue at least. That's a filthy thing to do.

Had my 14yo cousin try to throw urine on me when I was staying at his house for a year at 18 while studying physics and chemistry at Tafe to get better marks than my lazy ass achieved in year 12 for uni admission. Wound up crash tackling him like O'Meley a few moments after that bottle left his hands and barely stopped myself from throwing punches. He then made the mistake of dobbing on me to our mutual Aunty who'd basically fostered him. She filled a bottle herself then dragged him into the shower and administered the punishment he'd tried to administer to me. He cried for almost the rest of the day once he got out of the shower.

You could have ended up getting a life threatening illness because of that. I'm just glad you're fine and he got the punishment he deserved.

Shame that that lady isn’t in control of some of the kids I see on a day to day basis. Sounds like she was a no nonsense person who could sort the fibbers from the rest and did not tolerate poor behaviour.

True. You generally behave around my Aunty. She's not in good health these days, but among the stories I know about her was that my uncle criticised her for farting in the house (before the guest arrived) when guests were over so she went outside embarrassed seemingly but farted into the air con outside a number of times so he got blamed for it.

Should have used the old “dog did it” defence. That’s not good she is unwell hope things get better for her. I would call her a tough love auntie and we need a lot more like her to keep the kids of today in check.
