Team Tips: Cameron Ciraldo revealed the Bulldogs will welcome a host of big names back in to their side in Round 22. Viliame Kikau’s return will see Tevita Pangai-Junior move back to the bench, shifting Sam Hughes out of the team. Josh Addo-Carr will take Jeral Skelton’s wing spot, while Reed Mahoney will likely revert back to the starting team, moving Kyle Flanagan to the bench with Toby Sexton also slotting in at halfback. Jake Averillo will return to fullback which will see Hayze Perham make way. Ryan Sutton is also a chance of return on the bench, while Braidon Burns will likely take Paul Alamoti’s spot in the centres upon return from an abdomen injury. Meanwhile, Jacob Preston will take up his backrow spot, replacing Jayden Okunbor with Harrison Edwards a chance of making way. Young gun Karl Oloapu could also return from a neck injury and slot on to the bench.

Big Bulldogs boost with star set for long-awaited return-

The Canterbury Bulldogs are set for much-needed and long-awaited boost with Viliame Kikau set to return against the Penrith Panthers this weekend.

Kikau ruptured his pectoral muscle at training in April in what is one on just a long list of injuries for the men in blue and white this year.

He is finally set to return however in mid-July according to The Daily Telegraph, completing a roughly three-month return to play.

Canterbury originally advised the injury could be clear in as little as eight weeks, but eventually changed their estimate, with Kikau now set to return more or less on time.

The club has endured a torrid run in Cameron Ciraldo's first season at the helm and with seven rounds remaining, are virtually out of finals contention.

The high-profile recruit, who left the Penrith Panthers at the end of last year to join Matt Burton at the Bulldogs, and will be joined by another Panther in Stephen Crichton for 2024, managed just four games for his new club at the start of the season.

In what was an instant impact, Canterbury beat the Melbourne Storm away from home and the Tigers during the first four weeks of the season with Kikau running for almost 80 metres per game and adding 6 tackle busts.

The Bulldogs are just two points ahead of the St George Illawarra Dragons and four ahead of the Wests Tigers at the bottom of the table and without a decent finish to the season, could yet pick up the dreaded wooden spoon.

The Fijian international could slot straight back into the starting side for this weekend's game, with the Bulldogs desperate to stick it to the defending premiers before playing a pair of winnable games against the Dolphins and Newcastle Knights on either side of a Round 23 bye.

I’m assuming in bulldogs language, a decent finish means winning one more game to avoid the spoon?

Actually we are now behind Drags on the ladder.

If Okunbor, Waddell and RFM are anywhere near the team after yesterday’s efforts and if Sutton waltzes straight back in then this club is truly screwed up

Despite the errors I think Skelton has shown more value than Wilson. It gives us speed on one side with Fox then power and athleticism on the other with Skelton
wilson at fullback, averillo back to the centres

PS if the assistant does actually drop Skelton then that proves he has NFI.

I like Wilson but no way in hell should he keep his spot over Skelton. Skelton has 426m in 2 games and 10 mins. Throw in a couple of line breaks and a try too.

Show me a forward who comes even close to that.
