Inquiries are continuing after a number of incidents following a football match at Sydney Olympic Park today (Friday 3 April 2015).
Reports a referee was hit by a bottle while leaving the field at Stadium Australia tonight are incorrect.
The match official was avoiding a bottle which had been thrown from the crowd when he slipped.
He was assisted to his feet and moved to the officials room.
A second official sustained a shoulder injury after falling. Inquiries are continuing to verify the circumstances leading up to the official being injured.
Two people were arrested for assault – one of these was for domestic violence offences.
In the second matter, a man is assisting with inquiries in relation to the alleged assault of another male. That person was taken to hospital further assessment.
Two people have been identified for allegedly throwing bottles and police will be taking legal action against them. Inquiries to identify others involved are continuing.
Four people were also ejected from the ground and two others were refused entry.
Canterbury Bulldogs along with the NRL officials are working towards banning these individuals from all NRL fixtures
As with all events NSW Police work with the NRL and involved clubs to ensure a safe venue where anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated.

The officials would not have sustained any injury if they weren't ducking bottles thrown by the crowd. It is still a poor look for us. We could have had the media backing us over the loss. Now that's all undone by the actions of a few selfish, uncontrolled fans.

This. We can only hope that the article that follows the one they write about us is about the referees themselves

Someone got king hit outside thats what i heard
Yeah when I was leaving the ground, there was a Souths supporter out cold on the floor close to the exit gates
Geez that is no good at all. Some people need to take a chill pill seriously. Hope the poor bloke is ok. We joke about Souffs supporters and all, but you know when this stuff happens its usually some poor relatively innocent bloke who cops it. You know, it'll turn out it was his birthday, and his mum died last week or something, and he just wanted to enjoy going to the footy.

Hope they didn't knock his only tooth out!

As for the official, he slips over whilst heading up the tunnel. If you look to the right of the tunnel as head heads up, you see ref hit with the bottle and then as they go inside the tunnel on right hand side, he slips over (the official) and hits the wall.

It did NOT happen from a bottle.

Security were rushing them through the tunnel and he slipped on the wet floor.
