I'm honestly pretty pissed off with him. If the standard hadn't been set by the NRL to keep players that get busted on nose beers I'd want him gone yesterday. But the fact of the matter is they typically get a soap on the wrist and a few weeks off and return to play soon after 99% of the time. So if we sack him he's going to be signed elsewhere, probably on a cut price contract elsewhere before the end of the week.

So I'd just be testing him for drugs regularly and plan to let him go when his contract expires.

Spamming the thread. But how many of you are employed in a workplace that would sack you for a failed drug test?

I would be booted from my job for drug use. I know that the bulk of my past jobs have had a stipulation about drug use being grounds for dismissal. The NRL being as high profile as it is with a brand that can be damaged has a softly softly approach.

No, I think the club should look after players who have been loyal to it... especially when they are going through personal issues.
Exactly right.

If a player smacks up his Mrs as he's going through personal issues . Support him because he's been loyal.

If a player drinks and drives as he's going through personal issues. Support him because he's been loyal.

If a player gets caught smuggling drugs as he's going through personal issues. Support him as he's been loyal.

Fuck it. Whatever he does we should support him as he's going through personal issues and he's been loyal

Josh Addo-Carr could be a free agent as early as this week with the Bulldogs expected to grant the winger formal permission to talk with rival clubs.

It is understood clubs have already been sounded out about their potential interest in Addo-Carr should he be cut adrift by the Bulldogs for 2025.

That could happen within days with Canterbury expected to allow the NSW and Australian flyer to test the open market after informal discussions.

He has just 12 months left on his current deal worth about $500,000. The Bulldogs have already indicated they won’t be in a position to offer Addo-Carr a new deal in 2026. It means they would allow Addo-Carr to test the market and if he could secure his long-term future elsewhere they would be unlikely to stand in his way.

Addo-Carr’s agent Mario Tartak has already met with Bulldogs boss Phil Gould last Friday to discuss the 29-year-olds playing future.

The Dragons have already been mentioned as a possible destination for Addo-Carr however they most likely need to move winger Mikaele Ravalawa to help with their roster management. The Dragons have salary cap space to accommodate Addo-Carr.

Whichever club Addo-Carr goes to they will need to contend with a three game ban hanging over his head after he tested positive to cocaine in a road-side drug test.

Addo-Carr was issued with a breach notice - believed to propose a four match suspension and $15,000 fine - by the NRL on Tuesday. He has already served one match after missing Canterbury’s opening finals loss to Manly.

He maintains he has never taken any illicit substance and said as much when he met with the NRL’s integrity unit last week.

The fine portion of Addo-Carr’s latest sanction includes a $3000 suspended fine that was hanging over his head from last year’s Koori Knockout tournament.

Addo-Carr accepted a $682 fine and a three-month suspension from driving following the incident, which raised the ire of the Bulldogs and their all-powerful head of football Phil Gould.

He has also been over-looked for a Kangaroos spot having last played for Australia in their 2022 World Cup final win against Samoa.

So many vague words in this article.
"could be" "if he could" "unlikely to" "expected to".

These 3 flogs that wrote this garbage "COULD BE" full of shit and are UNLIKELY TO ever pull a root.

It's the media trying to force Bulldogs hand into putting him on the open market, despite his contract ending in 2026 anyway.

There’s a price to pay for loyalty.

I agree about the soft approach but maybe that's because the players are in the age group where doing drugs is so widespread not just in the game but society in general.

Seems to me that many with that mindset probably use it in their own lives.

People have some F’d up ideas on what loyalty means ..

if your Mrs is having a baby that night, do you go out instead of being there, get smashed, bonk some other shiela .. get caught doing it

then say hey, you’re loyal to your Mrs ?

Nah you just say “I was having some personal issues” and it’s all sweet play on.

I don't think that's what it means...

Now please stop falsely accusing me of trolling and go slag off Burto for a reaction, or something lol
Those who anoint themselves as the positive crew will make hypocrites of themselves when they go slag off the players currently contracted to our club. I think we counted only 5 players that didn't get threads dedicated to them for abuse after the Manly loss. Some just need to accept Salmon he's a favourite of Gould and Ciraldo, they will always pick him so just support him.

"fairly minor mistake?'
Mistake to go to a coke dealer and buy coke.
Mistake on all probablities he sampled the product there
Mistake he then drove a motor vehicle
Mistake or bad luck he got pulled over and tested positive
Mistake on more than a few occassions lying and changing his story to Gus
Massive mistake in letting his team down re the Manly game, a game that we semi final starved fans have not had for years
Sounds like a monumental fuck up
You were with him were you?

Might be hate from others on here.
Not from me. I dont hate him it boils down he has already bought the game and our club into disrepute
and by keeping him after giving him a four week holiday and a paltry $15,000 fine is sending the wrong message.
A prospective top shelf player who lives by a healthy disciplined lifestyle would probably buck on coming here.
How many more of our players will, by their own stupidness, bring shame upon our club and treated this leniently.
I wouldnt blame Wilson if he had the shits.
You do realise nrl players is one of the most toxic culture on the planet, these guys think they’re superstars and walk around like celebrities, just because some here are beyond obsessed and look at them as role models for their kids it is absurd

How do you know what he’s done for others in our community and for various charities? It fascinates me how many hyenas come into kick blokes in the guts and blokes like Latrell and Trindall is basically a case of “nothing to see here”…. He’s paid the price legally and the ultimate price on field by missing out on a critical finals game. I don’t understand the hate.

Most NRL players do coke so i doubt it would impact on prospective players
Uce the funniest thing here is the people saying he fucked us over the biggest semi of our club’s history, shat on our club talking about self control

I guarantee the same people would be licking their overpriced bag ripping it in half to get every last crumb before they stuck their filthy std infested doodles into anything that moved at 3am

Just a power play.

He's entrenching himself in the club, so if / when we push him out we'll need to play the dollar.

It's that simple
It’s like an episode of the apprentice !! Relax donal trump he just wants to play footy with the dogs
