There is not a single player on that off-contract list i would keep, unless we are that short of players and need a few bodies to fill the bottom end of the 30 squad at the minimum nrl wage, with the exception of lichaa, base wage is paying overs for him. A lot is said about trex(rightfully so) as one of the worst signings in bulldog history, imho i put lichaa right up there as well. I just can't fathom how that guy can even make reserve grade let alone first grade and still not master passing off the ground or passing left to right, it is just mind blowing.

I’d throw the kitchen sink at Thomas Flegler and Tevita Pangai

Have a stab at Jordan Rapana and Gideon mosby at outside back

Britton Nikora from sharks is a freak in the making
Runs lines all day and tackles like an animal

Either Reece Robson or Manase Fainu at hooker

Roughies; Tristan sailor, Agnatius pasi and Josh Aloiai

Thomas Flegler - another ranga to partner Napa. Kid is 19, big, strong, soft hands and has amazing footwork for such a big bloke. Throw Fualao & Tualau salaries at the kid

Blayke Brailey or Reece Robson - Lichaa's salary

Jackson Hastings - Nu Brown

Curtis Rona is off contract with the Waratahs this year, and i would be throwing him a deal to good to refuse, like wise I would be throwing Oates a deal too good to refuse.

If we were to lose Martin but gain a player like Rona or Oates, than its a no brainer.

If we can offload Foran and be left with 300k only, that would go a long way in adding $$ to entice Rona and Oates over

Throw big Sammy a bone and a kebab on a 1 year deal

1. Hopoate
2. Oates
3. Rona
4. Holland
5. Smith
6. Lewis
7. Hastings
8. Tolman
9. Robson/Brailey
10. Napa
11. CHN
12. Elliott
13. Jackson

14. Flegler
15. Ogden
16. RFM
17. Kasiano

You know what, thats not too bad at all.

Only change i would make is throwing Martin in for Elliott if the salary cap allows it, cause at the end of the day noone knows our cap position.

That is a team which you could work with next year and while Hopoate, Holland and Tolman come off contract next year, we can start looking for their replacements for 2021

You do realise even with cap space it's not as easy as saying I'll get 4 gun players when the team is wooden spooners
Best to look at Newcastle and what they went through to get their squad.

Brown was after everyone and got a few average players, and the team improved. Then was able to get the kill with ponga and Pearce , once got them was able to do the kills this year

So the gamble was pay overs for a youngster with 2 nrl games and hope he becomes and god, and pay massive overs for a big name and hope they improve the side enough to do kills the followings seasons

I'm using Zero Tackle so not sure how accurate (just players off contract).
1. Oates (left wing)
2. Gutherson (fullback)
3. Fainu (hooker)
4. Resign Martin (second row)

I didn't really like the centre options and Gutherson the only decent fullback (unless I missed someone).

Gutherson very versatile - can play 1, 2/5, 3/4 and 6 and Oates could play in the second row when he loses his speed (good for long contracts).

Hopoate into the centres.
Faitala-Mariner onto the bench (prop rotation)
Lichaa not resigned.

This would cost 1.5-2m and we'd need to offer them long contracts (I actually have no idea how much room we'll have in the cap).

I still don't think this it's enough for top 8 tho, we'll need another window (more room in the cap).

It would be extremely difficult to pull off but surely we could make a play for DWZ from the panthers to play fullback, he is stuck behind Edwards there even though he is the Kiwi #1, supremely talented player and should be a starting fullback in the NRL, still only 23 with almost 100 games under his belt and seems to be the leader type too. Under contract until the end of 2020 but I cant see him wanting to waste another two years out on the wing.
Can't approach him till after Nov 2019. We aren't the Knights remember.

At this stage i would only look to sign experienced NRL / ESL players.. i dont have a list of offcontact players so impossible to do a list..

The following arent world beaters but they can handle NRL, im looking at lower salary players that can do a job.. I would consider the likes of Segeyaro, Tamou, Merrin, Kasiano, forwards and outside backs from ESL, i would also consider Sam Williams as halfback depth with Lewis & Coggar..

Strictly no more rookies unless they are extremely talented or proven..

Lots of dreaming going on here. People forget that clubs talk to their star players and extend before the Nov deadline in final year of contract. Hence no other club can approach them.

More chance of the club bringing back Brenko Lee and signing Michael Gordon and Sandor Earl. Or signing Reece Robinson.

He's a useful impact player, but needs to be slotted in between two good defenders like JJ and Napa for extra protection. But we have bigger problems to fix without wasting any cap on improving impact from the bench.

We need wingers who can start sets eat metres and finish.
Look at the last few premiership sides and it’s come off from the back 3 eating metres (Val Holmes for Cronulla/Slater, Ado-Carr and Vunivalu for Melbourne and Ferguson for the roosters) starting sets and giving the forward pack relief. We don’t have a ‘metre eater’ forward either who runs Mark O’Meley style to start and continue the roll on. I’ve said for years we haven’t had it since Kasiano (inconsistently at times) and Ben Hannant
Reason all those blokes you mentioned are meter eaters is because their teams won the ruck, played quick balls and had brilliant dummy halves, that provided quick crisp passes. If you allow the defense to set and reform and give the markers time to pounce on your dummy half and first receiver, even though you might occasionally break through, most times you will get bashed.

Noone ever thought that Bmoz would leave the Dragons, or Woods captain of Tigers would leave. The same goes for the likes of Klemmer.

You have the likes of TPJ signing 1 years deals so he can test the market and little greedy ***** like Dylan Brown talking about "fishing" around after 1 NRL game.

Money talks, bullshit walks sweetheart

I was looking at the complete list for off contract players, there's not alot there tbh.

Unless you pay massive overs for Pangai I don't see him leaving the Broncos. There's been rumours uncle Nick is after him in which case we are no chance.

I think we're going to have to start looking at very promising lower grade players or even to ESL for signings.

It's really depressing thinking of the next year or two and players we might have to use out of desperation.
ESL has some good quality players floating around, I’d be bagging a few after focusing on 1 or 2 marquee signings

Agree, the days of loyalty are all but gone. Money and opportunity, 2 sure things in football.

We need some quality assistant coaches also and some strong specialist coaching for halves/backs etc.

It won’t be widely popular on here but I’d throw big money to get one of the Johns brothers here to work with our halves and attack.

Hoppa brother and Api from Manly are off contract.

Api is dogs Jr so if we miss out on Robson would be a upgrade on what we have.

TPJ & Holmes would be a good start for main high $$$ players. Surely we can snag a couple decent Centres or a Hooker along the way.
