Mahoney provided great go forward...a threat himself and can kick out of dummy half
Preston was impressive in his carries, footwork and D
Ball control and D in first half was great today....even being a trial.
Our end of sets in red zone need better composure....and more work on grubbers for repeat sets. Penrith don't look to score off every set and sometimes go for the repeat set on tackle 4 if opportunity arises....that's composure and situational awareness.
No other negative today.

Positives were the defensive systems in the first half, Reed, Grub and Preston were very impressive.

My first Dogs game in around 30 years without a beer. Didn’t know what to do with my hands but less swear words

Positives, Mahoney and Preston, Skelton looking the goods. That first half was very enjoyable to watch.

Negatives- the reserve graders can stay just that along with Waddell. But I fear he may make the bench

Anyone else have walk away saying Reynolds completely outplayed Flanagan?

Assuming tpj is struggling for fitness (otherwise he’s 13)

I’d say round 1 based on today.

1. Perham (purely because that’s what’s reporter)
2. Kiraz
3. Averilo
4. Alomiti
5. Jac
6. Burton
7. Reynolds
8. Thompson
9. Mahoney
10. King
11. Kikau
12. Rfm
13. Sutton

14. Tpj
15. Preston
16. Davey
17. Brown/Pele/Topine/Skelton depending what CC wants.

Team at full strength?

01. Hayze Perham
02. Jacob Kiraz
03. Jake Averillo
04. Paul Alamoti
05. Josh Addo-Carr
06. Matt Burton
07. Kyle Flanagan
08. Max King
09. Reed Mahoney
10. Luke Thompson
11. Viliame Kikau
12. Jacob Preston
13. Raymond Faitala-Mariner/Ryan Sutton

14. Jackson Topine/Fa'amanu Brown
15. Ryan Sutton/Raymond Faitala-Mariner
16. Tevita Pangai Junior
17. Franklin Pele
Fair assessment B. I wouldn’t change much. But I would have Davey ahead Sutton. Sutton move too slow for the modern game.

Very positive start to the season.

First half team looked focussed and defence was great. Everybody played their role and contributed

Mahoney was great. I loved how a couple of times he really led the defensive line in meeting the ball carrier at the advantage line. The others followed suit the next couple of plays. I haven't seen form a Bulldogs team in a long time

Preston looked impressive, a real whole hearted tough kid who gets amongst it. Could be our "Max King" of 2023

No real standouts but when we add in our "strike" players Burton, Addo Carr, Kikau and TPJ off the back of Mahoney...that's exciting

Second half standouts for me were Topine, Pele, Blake Wilson looks a good prospect, and both Hayward and Rajab looked good in defence

A lot of positives for CC to work with

why are ppl concerned about the reynolds/flanno battle

It’s always going to be about the 14

At this stage Nu still to start the year and Reynolds to play anywhere from 0-5 games barring major injury off the bench

Did look better than I thought but that was starting off with a very low bar. Will be good for the squad in any case.

I'm more than happy with what I saw, especially from the 1st half. Would like to see our right side form some sort of combo and let the ball sing a bit more but I'm sure that'll come.
