This is what Gould has been working toward. Bring up the talent from our younger grades, as a unit. Not just one player to fill in a gap, but bring up a spine that knows how each other plays, and use that winning combination.Papalii, Hayward, O'Neil, etc I don't want to get too excited but the future is looking very good. Once these players mature, our club will be in a very good position to challenge for the premiership.
Skelton is the big unit we need on the wing. Wilson and Skelton are ready for a permanent position, but what do we do with Kiraz and Ado-Carr?One thing for sure is that there are 3 or 4 better playmakers that are ahead of Burton.
Another headache is Wilson, he looks like he's ready for a full time spot in FG but we've got so many outside backs.
Pretty sure that the club won't be letting him go.He could easily make it as 6. But his positional play and how he sweeped around from short side to set up the shift for one of our tries was class.
His talk and energy amping players up, I'd want him out the back yapping all game. Hopefully club sees it that way quickly, would love to see him eventually linking up with Critta
Hayward and O'Neill were also a potent combination.A lot of positives tonight but for me sexton and papalii were the standouts. I’ll wait to judge our pack against better opposition. Anyone know how long we have papalii signed up for?
I can see the beginning of the Gould plan coming through. Too early to get really excited, but our defence was top notch last night. The bi polar kennel is in full swing. The same flops and cucks now sucking off the player they bag or team they bag are now praising the team. We looked good, some of the same players doing shitty mistakes ( knight , Reed ) but other then that it seems gus plan has been working well regarding the juniors and the fact it’s all coming up as one not just one player. They are all young and growing together , can already see the presence critta has with ado carr. Two talkers out there.
very happy
We need to do everything possible not to hold these kids back, otherwise we will lose them like we lost Thurston. All of the Flegg boys were very impressive. They'll be pushing for FG spots very soon.. The present isn't as bad as some people thought and the future looks brighter than even the biggest pessimist would give the club credit for..
It was our defence that was the standout.I only saw a highlights video. But we look pretty fluent in attack. I know it wasn't the strongest 17 from Melbourne. But it's got to be good for the team to get a win (even though it's only a trial) straight from the gate.
True, but we were also without Kikau, Chrichton, Kiraz, JAC, Curran, Tracey.Happy we won. Lots of the new boys went well!
Burton....hmmmm
Mahoney.......Younger bloke looked better!
Knight...... Hopefully just one of those nights!
Not getting a fat yet tho..... we only beat a B/C grade storm team.
Can't tackle..Burton to lock?
That's the Gould plan.Plus we still have others like Woods, Marshall etc to come into the mix in the next few years.. Hopefully we keep as many of them as possible and they can help us become a consistent contender in the next few years..
The Sharks will be a bigger test next week. This is true, that was the storm b grade side but that b grade side would have put 50 on last years bulldogs side.
Fuck me, I baulked when you mentioned Woods, I think I have PTSD.Plus we still have others like Woods, Marshall etc to come into the mix in the next few years.. Hopefully we keep as many of them as possible and they can help us become a consistent contender in the next few years..
yes so good to see the young guys get a chance and really do well.Papali'i, O'Neil, Haywood and Todd were outstanding. I want to see Papali'i start next week at fullback Jack Todd cannot develop soon enough, he has to start the year as a starting prop in NSW Cup.
You'd like to think so, but with our recent history of fucking our roster and letting good juniors go, you can understand the concernPretty sure that the club won't be letting him go.
I said it while back, Joash is my smoking for the fb role come round 1. Probably won't start the year, but he will be putting plenty of pressure on those in front of him!!He could easily make it as 6. But his positional play and how he sweeped around from short side to set up the shift for one of our tries was class.
