Even on their best days Crichton and or Montoya don’t score a try make 4 line breaks and 150m or 3 offload

They sure as hell let in a try or two though

5 games in and people lynching him give me a break
Lynching him for schoolboy errors. Which is fair enough.

The most frustrating thing is that when the kick for the cowboys first try went up, he lost vision of the ball and didn’t even bother being fixated on where the attacker was. Just kinda lumbered back like a headless chook
Yeah the lack of urgency has been an issue. It's one thing to be caught out but he had ample time to scramble and at least break up the play. Too often he jogs around when he's rushed up so he needs a kick up the ass to increase his effort.

But it's early yet so hopefully that sort of stuff improves by the end of the season. But effort and desire is generally part of a players makeup, not something that can be taught.

Cogger tackles
R4 - 24/27
R5 - 23/27
R6 - 11/14
R7 - 14/16
Total = 72/84 (12 missed)

Lewis tackles
R4 - 14/16
R5 - 26/28
R6 - 26/30
R7 - 23/24
Total = 89/98 (9 missed)

More traffic is being directed at Lewis and our left edge, despite Lachlan being known as a good defender and Cogger being painted as a bad defender. I wonder why that is... seems to me after the first 2 games coaches are targeting Okunbur because they know he's a liability.
Lewis is more threatening with the ball so they are trying to tire him out.

He has poor instincts in attacking situations as well. For example, he should never have been so flat so as to risk a forward pass from Holland. Generally, he just doesn't seem in sync with his inside men.

Great athlete but needs to smarten up fast.
He will. He already has somewhat from his pre FG life.

He gets nervous when he’s isolated one on one. Experience and confidence with more games will fix that I hope.

It’s fact bro. There’s no other logical reason to direct all traffic to a proven defender.
Because Okunbur rushes in off his wing a lot, if they isolate Lewis everyone slides in. It's evident in our defence over the last few weeks

Just watched the replay
The second half from Okunbor was flawless way to bounce back from errors in first 40!

Watch the work he does , the two hit ups in a set when our forwards are walking

The catch on bootlaces and to get on outside of opposite and switch ball in other hand and presence of mind to pass a great one handed back to Holland en route for JJ try....

He’s only 5 games in peeps

Leave the hate at the gate

Crichton makes massive metres out of our half too.

Okunbor is very Inu like at the moment, but I noticed at half time he was head down, very quiet, and probably copped a gobful from Pay.

That said the issues he has with his game aren't major and shouldn't be too hard to rectify. Size, power, and vertical leap aren't things you can easily gain.

Okunbor just needs to get a bit of fire in his belly, he's got size but he lacks a bit of heart (perhaps a deer/headlights thing - who knows?), And the lack of fire means lack of confidence, hence the half arsed defence at times and glitchy hands when the pressure is on.

Give a bit of time, and make sure he knows (in his head and heart) that he's bigger and stronger then most boys he's playing against.

Take him down to the ring and have him go a few rounds with the gloves on, make sure he knows (deep down) he's a man who can handle him self (as a man against men).

I know it's hard to accept mistakes but our problem is we are too conservative,
We have to be patient and let him develop in first grade...potentially he could become an X factor
Remember Ben Barba ?

He is fucking horrible and useless.

To those who say ww have no one better .Give yourselves an uppercut. Pretty much any winger we have will be more sufficient than this useless blob.

He is 22 and not 12 so to say we should be patient is bullshit. If you can't catch or pass by the age of 12 then go play soccer or go knit a jumper
You’re bloody funny!

I read this out to my 12 year old daughter. Her response, “but knitting is actually fun dad”

Okunbor is an athlete like Smith.

Persist with these guys. Give him game time and be patient. Look at Ikuvalu at the Roosters now for example, his first two games were shocking but he has stepped up and looks solid now.

He has been playing like this consistently for years and years. What makes you think all of a sudden he will change and learn the fundamentals of footy.

Even at his worst, Okunbor can make 100 + metres a game.
Chricton and Montoya come NO WHERE close.
Stats to prove:

Okunbor
Round 3: 214m
Round 4: 290m
Round 5: 132m
Round 6: 120m
Round 7: 143m

* Also has ability to bend line back and generate post contact metres

Chricton
Career Average: 106m
Round 1: 140m
Round 2: 140m

Montoya
Career Average: 98m
Round 1: 73m
Round 2: 100m

Okunbor also has 7 linebreaks, 10 tackle breaks and 6 offloads and 2 tries. Not bad. He will get better every round and his silly errors will be eliminated soon enough.
