What about players who get their head in the wrong place when making a tackle? Should the player he is tackling be sent off now too?
Nah, send off the player for shit tackling technique. That's more what the nrl would do LOL

One thing the NRL will never do to increase player safety is reduce the amount of rounds each year cause it will earn them less in TV revenue.

This whole crackdown is only to protect them from law suits in the future like the NFL are experiencing.

Its like in most work places. They only implement safety measures when it's convenient for them

I heard Vlandys say they are considering appointing refs at clubs training facilities who will oversee scrimmages and report the high contact in which you can be suspended from games
The NRL would go to town on us, so much so that we wouldn't be able to field a full side each week.

Lol this is the logical solution im my opinion as well.

Trials + 26 rounds + finals + 3 origin games (for 50 of the best players) and internationals etc. It takes it toll. I have always believed in order to increase the quality of football and create a more balanced and competitive competition you should reduced the rounds. Look at the quality of football of the first couple of months compared to the last - its a big drop. And of course if you reduce the number of games played then you automatically reduced the risk of head knocks lol But like you said the TV revenue is too great to even consider this as a solution.

Lol at people saying the games dead. Is the nfl dead. This is an essential move. Bring back skill and talent as opposed to thugs trying to Maine opponents

Hey 'the12thman' this is spot on and a great post. It is another example of being reactive rather than proactive and ramped up exponentially when Vlandys thought about what has happened in the US with law suits....

They can say all they like about looking after the welfare of the player; they can change all the rules they like; but until they stop thinking with their eyes on the bottom line things will just get more and more muddled.

We have regular season, nines, SOO, indigenous rep game, tests, trials on top of the regular season and the impost on teams has never been more. More games means more money for the NRL but also more chances of players getting injured. I think it is part of the contract between a player and the NRL that they must play in rep games if selected and the only way out is to be injured. It is also in the contract that they must perform to their full potential in games in which they are selected.............

Seriously someone needs to stand up and say enough is enough.
When UFC fighters or boxers go in the ring the know what they are getting into that’s what they want.
NRL players know the risks, if they are scared of injuries then go play netball.

Any lawyers here?
Why cant players sign a waiver when they sign a contract that they cannot sue the NRL?

When the NRL says concussion will kill the game you have to read into it further. If players start coming forward in larger numbers suing like James Mcmanus did it potentially can destroy clubs and possibly the game.

Like it or not this is how it is in our world of sport today and if it can happen in the NFL it can happen in the NRL. Screenshot_20210519-214745_Chrome.jpg
