Hmm how's this work with Rabbitohs? Clearly a conflict of interest with club sponsors.

Crown Resorts are still a Souths Premium Partner (aka Major Sponsor).

Crown Resorts own 4 properties currently:
Crown Melbourne - which has a massive casino.
Crown Perth - which also has a massive casino.
Crown Sydney - which had an application for a casino in house rejected.
Crown Aspinalls London - which has a large gaming rooms in it.

So not sure how they can hold both sponsors and spew verbatim about being against gambling.

Sydney Crown application has been approved a couple of weeks.

Slightly off topic but not really. Weren’t players banned from having/using their phones pre game in the dressing rooms ( I wonder why ) but you often see players talking/ texting in the dressing room on the TV pre game coverage.
As the commercials say …Gamble responsibly …but more importantly ..just GAMBLE.

It was on their jerseys still
Hence why Souths don't want Sportsbet adds. Self interest, a competitor to their sponsor. Show me a principalled position, I will show you the money trail paying for the principle.

I find the whole thing hypocritical. Back in the day we had the winfield cup and smoking got banned from advertising etc from the sport for obvious reasons. I even believe at one stage alcohol was frowned upon however we jump into bed with betting. May aswell of kept the Winfield Cup, there's no difference with all of them if you are going to be honest. They all destroy lives and families.

100%. All these major sponsors make a mint and therefore not many other companies can afford to advertise as much as they do. I'm surprised pharmaceutical companies haven't had a crack yet lol

The line gamble responsibly burns me. Indirectly telling people to gamble is disgusting inparticuarlu referring to the younger generation many would be suprised at the amount of under 18s who place bets on weekly basis. But hey if you were the bloke at the top would you change anything? absolutely not.

Yeah it's just lip service when they say it after 5 minutes of them recommending multi options and spruking the odds. It's sickening tbh. I have never been much of a gambler (rarely won so why bother?) but have nothing against it. Don't know anyone who has had negative repercussions from it or anything, just can't stand how ingrained in the sport it is.

Relax your socks mate.
Do you know who primarily funds our team to the tune of many multiples of what Crown puts into Souths?

Gamble responsibly went from a tick of the box to a marketing slogan

The gambling advertising really is out of hand in facilitating and indoctrinating children to bet as something normal and routine in watching and anticipating in sport.

It's alarming with where it is heading if you compare the rate of gambling growth, and influence, over the past 20 years, compared to sports watching most of us enjoyed. The next 20 years will be so crucial with VR sports and AI.

The amounts involved are in the trillions taken out of the economy and therefore not spent in small business (as an example) and with that kind of money involved it will probably be taken over "completely" by Chinese Govt/triad, mafia, yakuza gangs etc., or whoever wants a bigger slice of the action.

Very worrying contemplating where "irresponsible" gambling will all end.

The days of fund raising for the Sydney Opera House with a lottery and the first televised NSW Lotteries lotto draw held in November 1979 and hosted by Mike Walsh and Karen Pini seem so far away.

It's a good initiative in principle. Credit to Souths and the Bulldogs.. But the government can't run this campaign while making billions off pokie and gambling revenue. If they're serious about changing things, then betting ads need to be severely limited and there shouldn't be any market updates allowed during games. Not just for one game, for every game..

If tobacco companies are banned from advertising, then I don't know why betting agencies can't have some limitations like I mentioned above.
Ex-fucking-actly! This is a one off bullshit media push. They dont actually give two fucks about stopping gambling or removing it from society. Its way too normalised in Australia and its not a good thing. Bet deposit limits are about the only good thing thats veen done, but lets be honest that doesnt stop gamblers all that much lol.
