The NRL is reportedly refusing to register Issac Luke's new contract with South Sydney because he negotiated the deal without his manager Gavin Orr.

According to a report in Rugby League Week, the Player Agent Accreditation Scheme (PAAS) called on the NRL to reject the hooker's four-year deal brokered earlier this month.

Luke negotiated the contract on his own due to a dispute with Orr, with PAAS chairman Geoff Bellew taking aim at the Redfern-based club.

"We are certainly not happy that Souths have elected to negotiate directly with Issac Luke considering they were advised such action would, in our view, amount to assisting the player to contravene his agent agreement," Bellew said.

"The committee sees their actions as a slap in the face to the accreditation scheme and what we are trying to achieve."

Souths chief executive Shane Richardson claimed NRL boss David Gallop had cleared the club to negotiate directly with Luke.

Why should souths give a toss about the agent? All they should care about is the signature!

I don't see the harm in signing a contract without your manager?

"The committee sees their actions as a slap in the face"

I'll personally turkey slap you.

Absolute non issue. Issac and Orr dont get along. Richo approached the NRL and they gave the deal the all clear to go ahead. Issac is desperately trying to escape Orr as are other NRL players who dont like the brothers manager skills.

Hey, yeah, you want to sign Isaac Luke? Sorry, you can't talk to him about the deal. That's stupid. Outright stupid. Talk to some other guy who represents him, not Luke, FFS, why would you talk to him? It's not as if its his contract!

The players should get rid of the agents and do it themselves

well that's just crap if they block him....!
no need for an agent if he's staying loyal to the club
im pretty sure he signed a 4 year deal when he left our club
so why should he pay commission to his manager if he can sign
the same contract that he was already on.....?
most players use there managers/agent to shop them around and bump
up there price anyway...good on him

What? wouldnt it be more benificial to the NRL to have it done this way? Less chance of the player screwing the club out of money...
