As someone has said already, hands down the most ridiculous rule in the NRL. When we had injuries earlier this year or was it last year with Brad Deitz (?? Not sure) you get to play some players up a grade or from feeder club don’t you?? You can’t go making offers to the two best wingers in the NRL (Fox and Nofo) cause you’ve got a couple of injuries. Just a ridiculous rule!!

This is a new low for the NRL. The player swap was one thing. Both clubs got something from the start of the season. TPJ was bad, but he had already signed with us and I can’t remember but I think things were so bad at the broncos he wasn’t even playing QCup.This is crazy Nofo is signed until end of 2025 for crying out loud. This makes no sense. Like others have said Nofo isn’t a fringe first grader he is elite. If they got anyone should be some fringe player. We have like 5 forwards out can we ask Melbourne for Nelson?

Melbourne wouldn’t loan Nelson. Only they’re aloud to loan top players. Nofa wasn’t even their first choice they tried getting Fox, Reece Walsh and Daine Laurie before they got nofa. Literally trying to loan other clubs top players. Shouldn’t be aloud

It's pretty ridiculous that finals bound clubs are permitted to go for loans like this. The salary cap already seems like a joke. The top few clubs are already hoarding a crap load more talent than even the middle tier clubs. Coaching might play a part, but generally a huge imbalance is there between the handful of clubs that camp near the top of the ladder year after year and the rest. When injury hits it should bring the high flyers back to the field a bit. So loaning a rep calibre player really just keeps the gap open.

My biggest hate in sport right now are player loans generally, and in particular these short loans prior to a semi final series.
Although I'm a Liverpool supporter I hate how the big European clubs stock pile young talented players, farm them out and sell most for a big profit to a smaller club. Squad sizes should be limited and that should be your squad for the season.
These short loans we have in the NRL, erode what limited amounts of fairnesss exist in the competition and completely undermine the supposed rewards in place for teams who performed well throughout the season.
What's to stop clubs like the Storm or especially the Roosters from taking the piss especially as the salary cap doesn't exist for them. Injuries aside, and although unlikely under the cap, you could still potentially finish 8th, then lose your backline and assuming the current top 8 doesn't change, add the following players into your backline for a premiership cameo.
1 Kalyn Ponga
2 Josh Addo Carr
3 Jack Wighton
4 Tom Trbovecic
5 Reuben Garrick
6 Matt Burton
7 Ben Hunt
That would be wrong for all of the other teams that finished ahead.

The salary cap does exist so you'll never see it. Clubs have to spend 95% of their salary cap going into the season. Clubs aren't going to let their best players go on loan. Nofo being exiled from the Tigers so why not.

According to NRL they have ten players injured..... five backs and five forwards; four out for the year, one indefinite, one suspended and 5 due back in next week or so....

What a terrible rule that has morphed in the game. Correct me if I'm wrong but this started during Covid for Warriors as they had no players. Storm are struggling, IF they were to go on now, David scores a dozen try's and they reach and possibly win the GF then that would absolutely be FUKED! Yet another fuked rule ruining the fabric of the game IMO.
