Seeking recommendations for suitable cinema viewing at the end of March/1st week of April please kennel pals if you wouldnt mind? Idk how long flicks last in Perth cinemas but maybe not that long... lol

I'll be making a very rare trip to see a film while down in Perth at that time.

Fuck the Oscars and all that Hollywood awards wankfest, but good on Brendan Fraser for winning and sticking it to Hollywood for outcasting him for so long, then coming back and taking the biggest prize.
Short Round had the same story...so glad he won Best Supporting Actor stuck it up Harrison Ford ..prick hadn’t spoke to him for 38 years.. didn’t even try to get him some work..one thing he has got one and Ford hasn’t!

John Wick 4 from all reports it surpasses the first 3. From memory comes out this week so should still be running by end of month.

Yeah I know they are happy..nostalgia does funny things..plus he might wanna do a Short Round movie! I’m just being a bit of a dick..but truthfully I thought it was a bit slack considering he struggled to find movie parts and Ford was a bonafide superstar ..could have helped him on..

If you've seen Vanilla Sky... that movie set the bar very very low. That would be a hard movie to beat as the worst movie of all time.
Cats is the worst thing humanity has ever created

As far as violence porn goes, the John Wick movies are ok. But the storyline in all of them is barely worth paying the writers for. I put it somewhere in the same category as the fast and furious franchise. It's got a big following, so we'll just make more of the same until the money stops rolling in.

I'll tell you how the JW4 script plays out. John tries to stop killing more assassin's and have a peaceful life. Someone for some half cooked reason won't let their grudge go and they'll try to have him killed again. There'll be a lot of Shooting, John will call in debts and finally get a chance to kill the next big bad.

The violence scenes will be well choreographed. But the storyline will virtually be the same as the previous 3. I'll probably watch it, but I don't expect to be impressed with anything except the action sequences.

I took CroydonPup to see Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile at the cinemas last week.

Magician Hector (Javier Bardem), looking for a new trick, stumbles across a singing baby crocodile (played by pop star Shawn Mendes) somehow, but the crocodile of course won't sing publicly (like that old Warner Bros cartoon with the singing frog), so old Hector leaves town an Lyle in the attic of his old place. Then the Primm family move in (Scoot McNairy who you might remember from Narcos Mexico, and Connie Wu). They all become good mates with the crocodile, but the evil downstairs neighbour (Brett Gelmen) ruins everything, before, of course, a happy, all singing, all dancing finale.

There's a lot of singing, so its almost a musical. Cheesy AF, but aren't all kids movies. CroydonPup (5yo) seems to enjoy the music and the emotional ups and downs, and it didn't bore me entrely to death, so i consider it a success.

The original was great because it didn't take itself too seriously. I mean, he killed like a hundred guys with dodgy accents over a dog FFS. I can see this series heading the way of Fast and Furious in that it just keeps pushing the boundaries of reality to keep going.

Only the 2nd actor of Asian descent to win best supporting actor, the last one was Dr Haing Ngor for the Killing Fields. Now THAT is a film.

The Killing Fields CD was one special movie .. my homecare lady unfortunately was in Cambodia under the Pol Pot regime when she was about 10-12..her family’s restaurant was taken away and she was put into a farm labour camp where herself and family worked ..

Her father died from lack of hospital care..her younger sister died at the butt of a rifle because she could not work because she was sick. When they were liberated she, her two sisters and mother were put in a refugee camp..her mother tried to get them to be processed quicker so went to pay a man to do so..they never saw here again. Herself and two sisters eventually made their way to Australia..got married, owns a house and is a mother to a daughter..

Listening to her story made me appreciate the plight of refugees so much more ..by the way she loves Australia and is so thankful they allowed her to live her..me too!!

On a sad Dr Haing Ngor was gunned down at the ripe old of 55.

My guide, when i went the notorious s21 prison about 10 years ago, was similar. She was a child forced to walk for days to a labour camp, was beaten, tortured, and never saw her parents again.

The Killing Fields is one of only 2 films that brought a tear to my eye were watching as an adult (the other is Red Dog). That final scene where they reunite with John Lennon's Imagine playing is probably the most moving i've even seen.

Ngor had no acting experience before the role. Re his death, there were a few theories abound.
