ANZ Stadium, Monday 7pm (AEDT)

Last meeting: Bulldogs 24 bt Sharks 8 at Bluetongue Stadium, round 7, 2013

Head-to-head: Bulldogs 53, Sharks 30, drawn 1

Referees: Matt Cecchin, Alan Shortall

TV: Live, FoxSports 1

Betfair: Bulldogs $1.40, Sharks $3.40

Ladbrokes: Bulldogs $1.40, Sharks $3

Michael Chammas writes: The Sharks will be without Andrew Fifita (suspended) and skipper Paul Gallen (ankle injury), but should welcome back Todd Carney. His return is a huge boost for the Sharks, but it might not be enough to see them collect their first win of the season. The Bulldogs won't make the finals without a new fullback, but they have the team needed to overcome a severely understrength Cronulla outfit.

Tip: Bulldogs by 8

AAP writes:Things have gone from bad to worse for the Sharks, who not only still have the supplement saga hanging over their heads, but have lost Paul Gallen for six weeks after an ankle injury suffered in their loss to the Titans. Meanwhile Test prop Andrew Fifita has not only just announced he'll be switching clubs to their upcoming opponents next year, but is out for two weeks after taking an early guilty plea for a shoulder charge. Oh, not to mention Todd Carney and Beau Ryan could be set for another week on the sidelines. Things are a little bit more steady over at the Bulldogs, who have named an unchanged line-up despite last week's 18-12 loss to the Broncos.

Key: Attack was a problem for both outfits in their respective round one matches. If Canterbury's halves can provide quality ball for Josh Morris out wide, the Bulldogs should have too much strike power.

Bulldogs: Sam Perrett, Mitch Brown, Josh Morris, Chase Stanley, Corey Thompson, Josh Reynolds, Trent Hodkinson, Aiden Tolman, Michael Ennis (capt), James Graham, Frank Pritchard (capt), Tony Williams, Dale Finucane. Interchange: Josh Jackson, Pat O’Hanlon, Tim Browne, David Klemmer, Moses Mbye (one to be omitted).

SHARKS: Michael Gordon, Sosaia Feki, Blake Ayshford, Ricky Leutele, Jonathan Wright, Todd Carney, Daniel Holdsworth, Andrew Fifita, John Morris, Bryce Gibbs, Matt Prior, Wade Graham (capt), Tinirau Arona. Interchange: Isaac De Gois, Sam Tagataese, Tupou Sopoaga, Siosaia Vave, Chris Heighington (one to be omitted).

I appreciate it's only Round 2, but if we can't beat this rabble we should give 2014 away.

If we lose this, we can officially start panicking.

Mitch Brown has cleared the concussion tests and will be allowed to play.
Tim Lafai has recovered from his hand injury and will start in NSW Cup to get some match fitness.
krisnan Inu (broken jaw), Greg Eastwood (foot) and Sam Kasiano (foot) are no chance of early returns.

Hopefully we won't have too many issues with this one, these are the sort of games that the boys need to be winning if we want to be there come September.

I remember last year when we played them, I have no idea how we won. They bombed about 6 tries and we managed to beat them convincingly.

In all honesty I think we will put on a cricket score but I'm totally disinterested. I'm moving while the game is on and will check the score at fulltime.

I'm just worried about a complacent attitude from the bulldogs. The sharks will be fired up.
The last time we got on the field with a complacent attitude we got beaten by the donkeys rd 1 2014. Still spewing

leaving work a bit early so i can hopefully get there in time (traveling for the coast), stupid mondays

hopefully everyone who is a quick free train ride away turns up and doesn't jsut sit on the couch bagging the team on the forum, monday is lame but i hope this isn't below 12k or something stupid

i think cronulla starts strong but eventually we grind them down and end up winning somthing like 22-12

Sam perret MOTM, he still won't have a great fullbacks game but i reckon he'll have a blinder and score a try or two monday

If I was a gamblor I'd put money on the Sharks. The Sharks team and News Limited's Brisbane franchise are on par and we lost to them...

Not confident.

Good stuff!

I think my brother (Assassin) is taking his son to his first game, too.
