Official May signs with Tigers

Let it be known May approached the Bulldogs 1st, we would've signed him for less than what is reported,
You have to wonder why didn't we really go for him ????
There is a genuine belief that we are not desperate to sign no one and I mean no one unless that someone does absolutely suits us to a tee !!!
Could be as simple as CC sees Todd and Underhill doing the job for us

If they had pacific cup during the year.. Tigers will be missing most of their 17..

Crazy lad
Ciro has known May since he was a kid
May has been cut by a top 4 side which has lost 6 starters.
Doesnt take a genius

Then why were we even in talks with him the first time, before he signed with Roosters? There obviously wasn't an issue then. Now we missed another time, it's all "Oh, Gus knows a deep dark secret, he'll flop and we'll be better for missing out!" More likely, Gus got his nose out of joint for missing out the first time, and Moneyballed him, so he went to the Tigers...

Had a good laugh reading some of these! The amount of people who have already locked in a bottom 4 finish is hilarious.

Put your money where your mouth is and make a big bet if you’re so confident we are going backwards.

We were a couple of close games away from the top 4 this year in a new system with new players, we are only gonna get better next year!

I certainly don't think we'll be bottom 4, I'd guess somewhere between 5 and 9 again. But turn it around: how many of Gus' fan-club here are willing to put the farm on Dogs for the premiership next year? I'll have a flutter, like I do most years. But it's a BONUS if it happens, nowhere NEAR a given...

Sometimes the fewer words said the better, faith is a must in the current system !!!

Always rated Mann and Tracey personally. Hard ***** that just keep working. Curran I thought was a decent buy. But you also have to name the bad buys, not just the good.

Sutton, Tetevano, Knight, Poasa, Perham etc. Sure not all were expected to play NRL probably but several were. Even Mahoney has left a lot to be desired. Burton similar.

Burton is playing for Australia …
Mahoney played really well this year and got under the skin of opposition. He is a top 10 hooker. 2023 he tried too hard. He will be better in 2025.
We also got Josh Reynolds back remember? Loved that belmore home game but we will be top 8 next year

sticking to your guns. Gus has openly said we want players that want to be Bulldogs. Show they want to play for us for the right reasons and then fair offer is made. May already shown he preferred to be a Rooster instead, so would be odd to think we'd go back to that well.

May approached the Bulldogs 1st.?.......Since he was released from Roosters or before?
There was no official talk that his manager approached the Dogs. Can you direct me to where that is stated
I would say that at the time or very shortly beforehand Roosters cut him free Ciro and Gus knew of his shortcomings and steered away from him

My theory is Gus just won’t pay a certain amount for a forward and mays asking price was maybe too much. I don’t see why we wouldn’t have had a good crack. I think it all came down to $… dunno what Gus expects to get but we are short 1-2 hard big body players, a starter and maybe a impact player off the bench is what’s needed.
In saying that, how are wests signing son many players when they are paying Luai $1.2m on him alone. They have klemmer on 800k and a few big dollars over paid players on the roster so no idea how they are affording all these guys
again.. its about Gus ego... which always gets him in trouble

I’m seeing people saying May was signed for 3 years for $2m. If true no wonder we didn’t get him. He’s worth $600k/yr max but 3 years is very risky for a guy who has openly stated his waning interest in footy at times.

I’m not so bummed on missing him if that’s what sort of coin he got. Just bummed that we continue to swing and miss at every decent prop that is available.

I’m one of Burto’s biggest cheerleaders but he hasn’t been consistently good across a whole season yet.

It's well documented that the Mays are close nit with CC, you can make up your own theory about it !

I'm with you on that.
Was wondering if the Captaincy is affecting his role as an attacker.
Not doubting his abilities as far as leading the team on the paddock, but it could be having an interfering influence.
