Official May signs with Tigers

People don’t seem to understand that sometimes we could be holding it off with rumours swirling because we’re trying to get them earlier and if that’s the case it is going to take time with negotiations for that to happen.
There’s also things like going through the contracts, checking all the clauses etc. we generally don’t hear whispers about someone potentially going to another club until the players and the clubs have agreed to terms. But we live in a society full of people that want everything done yesterday and think we’re not “chasing hard” enough or “not prioritising forwards” because we’re not chasing players of a certain stature.

It’s funny the same sort of people that are complaining about us not throwing the chequebook at May, are the same people who cracked the shits because the club was paying overs for players who only came to the club for the $$$ and suddenly our recruitment isn’t good enough now because were actually recruiting players that align with the clubs values?

Can’t please anyone these days and Gus knows what he’s doing he’s proven it time and time again yet people question his motives more than they question their spouses :tearsofjoy:
People also complained about us throwing 600k at Sutton and look how that turned out. Gus and Ciraldo are going to make mistakes. I can only judge from the outside since I don't have inside information, but from the outside May would of been a slam-dunk, no brainer signing so I have to question why we didn't make a play for him.

On another note, what if we geed him up and he was ready to sign but we fobbed him off because he signed with the rorts when Gus wanted him initially? If so I love this game of karma Gus is playing, with this and I think the whole paps saga that’s driving Melbourne crazy is a big FU to them for raking in stefano from under our noses lol

Perhaps because they’ve potentially signed Thompson and are trying to get him here earlier which would logically make more sense as he’d be better value for money and after speaking with him they’ve figured he fits the culture and he has the right attitude in comparison?

Think of it this way, why they would turn down a player that plays the position we need unless we had a better option?

Yes, crazy to think otherwise with their roster imo. Sam Walker injury hurts but he'll be back and looks like they're signing Hunt who will fill the void until he returns. If you think Rooster are going to struggle you must think we're going to struggle.
No I think they weren’t much better than us this year and lost jwh may manu suali sitili and smith and walker for half
The year?

How much FG did he play though? Plus. I think we learned quick that he wasn’t a culture fit. Did he even finish out the season?
Did he even play 1 FG game?

Na he dipped early.

I might be disappointed if we actually made an offer and he accepted the same or less to go to the Tigers, however, that seems unlikely.

Would anyone here risk our teams morale by paying May overs to join our club - is he that special?

good player - like everyone else on here I have no idea if he has the credentials Ciro wants / expects from his players.

What is certain is that every time we pay overs it requires a sacrifice somewhere else in the roster and with the amount of talent we have knocking on the NRL door I would much rather see a Todd or Underhill tearing it up in first grade then paying overs for a Rooster discard.

Exactly. Trust the process. When was the last time penrith (4 TIME CHAMPIONS IN A ROW) paid overs for a player in the last 5 years? They bred them all and won that many. We are ok. I trust Gus and Ciro. Tigers can do ehat they want. They ain't going anywhere with Benji. But I also don't see them winning the spoon.

They paid overs for lots of players before the players in their nursery came good.

I don't think May's the player Gus wants to get in a bidding war over. I'm just guessing but I wouldn't be surprised if he has good mail May's signing with the Tigers. That's my gut feel and anything else is just trying to hike his price. Pity he probably won't be coming though cause he'd bring the starch and middle rotation we need IMO.

With this signing Tigers now have a better pack than us too. Well, at least middles. No question about it. Pole, Hunt and May. Compared to King, Hughes and Mann lol.

Thompson isn’t a better option though. May was the best prop available.
