Raudonikis now realises that if had any brains when he played Rugby League he would not be cab driver today.

You are a jackass Tommy! Shut up and wake up.

80,000 + 50,000 + 50,000 = 180,000. That is how many spectators attend origin to watch the best players running around. Lets just say the average origin ticket costs $50. That is $9,000,000 from gate admissions alone, let alone the sponsors/tv ratings etc. The players get what?? 25k per game or something? if that? Realistically the players should get more of the origin bonus, but that isn't the point.

Willie was saying that fringe first players deserve more money, which they do. This Brett White d***head is one of those fringe first graders that Mason is sticking up for, and he comes out and says he will take Mason's jersey...f'k off mate. The top players are sticking with Mason, so good on Mason to have the balls to come out and speak on behalf of most of the NRL players.

Mason had the balls to speak about an issue which i bet has been spoken by the players a lot, but in secret, maybe he spoke out so as to bring it to the attention of the public and the NRL. we have a thread about it, it was in the papers people talked about it in sports shows... if he wanted to bring it to the attention of everybody, id say mission accomplished... someone has to speak, while others have their heads buried in the sand, and if it angers ppl then tough Sh!t.

Good on ya future captain of the Bulldogs!

Good on the Big Fella!
He is just trying to stress his point across and a fair one it is. I'm certain that many would share his views.

Yeh but lockyer hodges and hunt wont go to union because they are LOYAL to their club ive heard hodges is signing a new contract pretty soon.:grinning:

Well thats good

But Mason would not have come out and said this if most players didnt support him.

On the news today, we found out that Andrew Johns, Darren Lockyer, Matt King and Roy Asotasi all supported Mason and im sure there are plenty more.

The fact is, the players are working for a company (NRL), and this company is getting richer and richer because of the hard work of the employees (Players). While this company is getting richer and exploiting the hard work of the employees, the employees themselves arent getting the bonuses they deserve.

Gasnier and Matty Johns said they would support it. Will you say the same if Lockyer joins in???
Gasnier is not in contention for Origin this year. And Matty Johns has retired for some time now.

Easy for them to say ....

without the fans there is no game. if nobody turned up to nrl games (the fans decided to strike) willie mason and his greedy mates on there 6 figure salries would be brickies labourers and garbo's earning $15 an hour.

yet they complain about earning several hundred grand a year.

ok then............

how can anyone support a strike during origin?? this is what we (the paying fans who keep this game alive) look forward to every year.

What Willie is getting at has been an issue for all major sporting leagues worldwide.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT PLAYER GREED.

The NRL is becoming more and more profitable every year. It makes this profit via marketing and selling the players.
What Willie is saying is that as the NRL grows as a business, this growth should also be felt at a club and player level. At the moment the NRL is growing exponentially on the backs of the clubs, yet it stops the clubs from passing on these profits to the players.
It is the same as you and I working our ar$es off at work, developing and growing the company you work for, and the general manager giving himself a massive bonus and pat on the back thanks to your work.
Employees strike for increased benefits and profit share etc. This is no different for the players.

Brett White isn't a fringe first grader, he's a starying prop for arguably the best team in the comp as well as a country origin rep.
The ruby union argument is weak, rugby aren't after the fringe 1st graders, they're after the blokes who already earn 300k a year, and if a loke like Tahu wants to make 500k a year playing rugby then good on him because there sure is noway in hell he's worth that in league, just as there's no way in hell matt Giteau is worth 1.2 mil a year
