He may have history with Baz but it is not good history. He was one of a number who were ticked that Baz enjoyed and encouraged a drinking culture with some of the main lights and Baz's desire to try to be mates with the players instead of a leader. If he comes it would be because we are paying him top dollar not because of Baz.
He is not walking away from an $800k plus contract for 2022 unless there is a financial incentive.

He was happy for his brother to sign with us though? Surely if it was that big an issue he wouldn't want his brother anywhere near the club?

Has Marty actually said that he is happy or expressed any opinion on his brothers signing?
Are you suggesting that he could/would veto him signing with Dogs because Baz is the coach?Parents might have more influence than Marty, does the family live in the local region?Maybe that might have some influence on where Junior signs?
Self edit....Just saw the Matthews thread where he has supported the decision, but again does the family live in the region?Marty still loves the club, maybe he doesn't think Baz will be here by the time Junior gets to seniors lol

seriously how much would we pay for him? reportedly on 800 next year so realistically how much would Manly kick in? needs to be a LOT up to half imo
I'm not sure how much we'd pay for him. I wouldn't think Manly would chip in more than half. I'd say realistically 300k if they really want to get rid of him. So I'd say we'd pay ~500k. That's probably ideal for us so you could probably add another 50-100k to actually make it happen. At the start of the year Taupau was terrible and that's the main reason why Manly wanted to move him on, he really stepped up when the media got a hold of it. Also in these situations the player usually gets at least another year extension and we wouldn't want him after 2022 either (only a short term option).

Think we need to find a younger prop who can lead our sets. Marty is too up and down these days and also has been more injury inclined also

Unless he's asking for crazy money or a long-term deal then I don't know why anyone wouldn't want him. We need experience in the pack and Marty has plenty of it. 4th in metres run per game for props, 3rd in tackle breaks for props, 4th in offloads for props, defensively he is strong without being amazing.

Who are fans and the club waiting for? You guys rather spend 350k on an average as fuck Hetherington who is a bench forward at best? Because he's young and has untapped potential? LOL.

We need forwards that can PLAY right now, forwards that our youngsters like Topine and a few others can look up to and learn off so they can transition to grade without being shit on by our fans every second.

A starting frontrow of Thompson and Taupau is dick loads better than anything we have now or will send out next season. You want a bargain type signing then look at someone like Cartwright who is getting his shit sorted and playing some good footy at the Eels, would cost less than fucking Hetherington or whatever other reject the club wants to sign.

Marty would sort out whos who in the Zoo with our current forwards and would be a huge boost to Thomo. Up tp $450k and 2 years with a third year club option would be an excellent signing.

Sea Eagles enforcer Marty Taupau has reportedly requested an immediate release from his contract to join a rival club.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the 32-year-old is set to sign with the Parramatta Eels, with the August 1 deadline looming.

Reports suggest the Eels have the salary cap space left to sign the Kiwi International and have until Monday to confirm any deal.
