Lomax has shown some talent too at 5/8. Thats only off the last two games i recorded and watched.
So true. That's in our DNA as well as family. Must repeat this.
The Dogs had their origins with people you would label as socialists. They were salt of the earth types who put community ahead of the individual, because that's how teams work best.
Firstly I should point out that I deliberately used the term "socialist/communist", in the context where communism means that all property and economic resources are owned and controlled by the government, not us as individuals eg; the government owns your home not you. Hence the government is responsible for everything that happens in our lives, which is what the ABC/SBS preaches every single day, hours upon hours of it.
Secondly, I don't believe that "teams work best" without, for example, a captain, a coach a Chairman, a Board and commercial sponsors. All very un socialist/communist.
Lastly, in 1935 everyone held what we would call today "socialist" views. But that became modified with WW2, following rise of communism, which is the extreme progression from socialism, and then its subsequent fall. I would suggest that our best teams came in the area of Peter "Bullfrog" Moore and I can assure you that he was not a socialist/communist. More a benevolent dictator, than a communist comrade.
I watch the ABC and SBS regularly, and I have never heard them preach every hour about communism or socialism; indeed I've never heard them talk about governments owning our homes or our economic resources. In fact, I watch them give air time to the current government where they allow enough time for proper answers- not "gotcha" soundbites I see on commercial media.
If you are going to make such a wild accusation, you should be able to back it up with evidence, such as a particular instance we can see for ourselves. Otherwise, claims without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.
“A particular instance”, you’re joking right? The list is long, in fact endless. Such that we could carry on back and forth on this subject endlessly, and plainly this is not the thread for it. If you want some “proof” I’d suggest starting off by reading 2 books “This is the ABC” by Ken Inglis and “Four Corners, 25 Years” by Rob Pullen. Which amongst many other facts include the ASIO reports of the ABC promising the Communist Party of Australia organisers of rallies that they would dedicate TV and radio coverage if the protests were held against ABC chosen issues.
There is plenty of evidence if you want to look for it, all it requires is ignoring the expectation bias.
Give me the Murdoch press. Thank God for Rupert I say. The only global communications group that doesnt buy into the "climate emergency" wealth redistribution crap.
You're right this is not the place to debate it, and and throwing away lines like "the list is endless", without a list of even one instance, then referring me to bias confirming publications doesn't hold - especially as numerous investigations into ABC bias have always shown it has a slight bias to the right. Always. And they have been liberal party instigated investigations.
You can thank Satan for Rupert... so in other words, thank Rupert himself
As I said, expectation bias, you expect the documenting of ASIO reports to be biased, hence that's all you see and as a result you dismiss them. Rather than objectively looking at the facts that ASIO actually reported. Plainly any examples that I give you, of which there is an absolute plethora, will be similarly dismissed by your expectation bias.
The End (of this discussion)
Socialism is the art of spending other peoples money.
Tell that to Bridget McKenzie
I have good and personal friends who are members of the Liberal and National parties - one serving, the others retired; and one sadly recently passed away. They all praise the ABC and the way it keeps people in rural areas informed and up to date. I have been interviewed a number of times by ABC and 2GB - one time with my late friend, Tm Fischer. My experience is that there is no interference with our points of view, or attempts to undermine or dismiss.
End of my story.
I noticed this earlier on FB

WHY DOGS’ STAR SIGNING WILL KILL IT IN NRL
St Helens forward Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook has given an insight into the work ethic of Luke Thompson who has signed with Canterbury from next season on a three-year deal.
“I think he can be a success out there,” McCarthy-Scarsbrook told the Out of Your League podcast.
“He’s quick, he’s strong, he’s got nearly half of what rugby league is over there.
“He’s fit as well, he goes a long time and what you don’t see is that he prepares for the game, for a season, for everything tremendously. He’s pinpoint.
“He’ll eat meals, hydrate, he’s bob on with that and I think over there it’ll only kick him on.
“I know Saints did everything to keep him. They wanted to keep him because he’s a phenomenal talent, but at the end of the day when someone knocks at you and throws money at you then … it’s a dream isn’t it?
So is borrowing from the bank to set up a business.
I agree with you, I'd tend to ignore comments like this though, anyone who conflates socialism and communism doesn't know what they are talking about.
The the fuck did a page about Luke Thompson end up being a debate about socialism/communism and the SBS? This page cracks me up sometimes.
History is exactly what it is. History. The past.
FMD that’s hilarious mate
