News Leo Thompson breaks silence after spurning key detail around girlfriend to sign with Bulldogs

Ciro likes a ball playing lock brah

I can see Todd having a breakout season this year and becoming our ball playing lock to kick off 2026.

Whilst Mann was a big piece in the puzzle that got us playing finals football last year. And will also play a pivotal role this year. I think he probably misses out on a contract extension.

With Curran & Todd to share the Lock/Reserve Middle role.

King is currently 27 turning 28 this year he's got plenty of time left before he starts slowing down
My mistake, that's good then! Will be even harder to bench him. You'd have to bench Hughes unless he has a stormer of a year.

I have to say that Hughes and DSF between them were making great post contact metres this weekend gone. I know it was predominantly against reserves, but they were a cut above in that regard.

Points of difference from the rest of our forwards were basically (from my memory)

Hayes popped a couple of late offloads out that actually found the hands of our players when he looked to be well wrapped up by three or more defenders. His running was solid and was busy in defence.

Todd also got some good ball away. But more during runs than when he was wrapped up by defence.

Heard plenty trashing Amones performance. I think he was among the busiest of our defenders. He did achieve some post contact metres and was quick getting back to his feet to play the ball. I'm not saying he was a game breaker on Sunday. But I think that he was on the receiving end of some harsh opinions in here. Nothing I saw told me that he's out of the running for a spot in the top 17 during the early rounds.

Agree with all of this.

I was one putting it on Amone. Probably not deserving Of a hammering. I was more disappointed because over the off-season he was one that gave me a glimmer of hope for our middle.

I think he had an average performance which any worries we’re short lived because I think the performances of Todd & DSF in particular along with Underhill were great to see. Amone based on that performance is behind these guys. Maybe it was just a bad day.

I am liking what I saw from DSF to start along side King. With Hughes & Todd coming off the bench.

I'd still start King and Hughes. DSF played plenty of minutes. But Hughes proved last year that he's capable of huge minutes. And if DSF can be the impact on either side of halftime, that'd be something we've been lacking. But at this stage I have Hughes, King and DSF as my first three props picked on what the trials showed (disregarding that king didn't play. He's just the incumbent).

Todd and Hayes are on par for me. Sky is the limit for both. But if Ciraldo wants experience early on I really don't think Amone was that far behind. So these three are in my next picked group.

But Tupouniua has to be in contention somewhere. Plus Curran, Kikau, Preston and I've probably missed a few names. But altogether it's positive signs for our pack. It's going to be interesting to see if having that extra competition from our depth will translate to us giving our halves a far better platform or if it's only minor improvements.

Sitili & Curran are both a given to be there somewhere. So there is two bench spots left. Assuming Mann is Lock. Or as I would prefer Curran at lock with Mann & Sitili at 14 & 15. Leaving 16 & 17 for two props. Although this would move away from Ciro’s 2024 plan.

That being said he could still run with Morrin and keep his small forward game. The main area we need to improve from last year is go forward offensively and stopping the opposing teams go forward. For this we need size!

Amone was struggling badly and gasping for air when defending on the line and he hadn't even been on for long.

What a great kid and future player we have here! I would certainly love to have him this year at our great club but he is sincerely going to honour the final year of his contract with the Knights instead of doing a Francis Molo and David Klemmer having a great big dummy spit until the club loses patience with him and grants his request to leave immediately! His character is exemplary and is exactly the kind of character Gus and Ciro are recruiting these days and why we are getting better and better. Well done Leo am looking forward to seeing you wear the famous Blue & White, bring on 2025 and beyond!

Not the Alpha I've been wanting us to sign but he has signed so I look forward to seeing what he can do for us.

At least he didn't do an Andrew Fifita and say he hated us LOL ... Up the DOGGIESSSS.....
HAHA true dat FIFITA deserved his contract to be torn but Thompson has half a brain more and will be coming don't you worry boyz lets get EXCITED!!!!

Amone seems a deadset nsw cup player. Seems like a strange signing.

Very happy with signing LEO THOMPSON HE WILL BE A MACHINE A WEAPON FOR US!!!!!

Watching may he has literally had no impact at all just offloads pfffff that would’ve been a waste of money….

Gus spoke very highly of May and Fonua-Blake on the 6 Tackles podcast. Makes me wonder why we preferred Thompson? Maybe he didn't see us having a real chance with the others so didn't bother with a losing battle. I don't mind Thompson but May would've been good - this year.

Now let’s hope he can bring his twin brother over to the doggs, I mean brothers playing for a club makes sense, family clubs and all.. I reckon it’s in the pipeline a Gus will definitely have that in the back of his mind as Weill Leo to get Tyrone in the blue a white.
