Isn't 2020 the year the final year of his contract?the club doesn't see him in it's future plans and that if he chooses to play on in 2021 that he will be doing it in reserve grade.

I thought he was contracted to 2021 (inclusive). Could be wrong.Isn't 2020 the year the final year of his contract?
All the clubs fault for offering overs?A lot of hate for Foran on here which I don't necessarily agree with.
Get that we're all angry as he's taking up so much of our salary cap and has played so few games for us. Ideally he'd retire, that's for sure. But at the same time he's a person and has a desire to continue. Who are we to say he shouldn't? This is his passion. If someone told me to give up wanking I'd tell them to bugger off!
What does he owe the club? Let's be honest here.
Yes we signed him on overs but that's not his mistake. Yes, we stuck by him during the injuries but we were obliged to.Yes we gave him personal attention, but we're the family club so that's part of the business. It's not great how it turned out for him and us, but we chose to sign him for that much knowing his injury record. We made that decision. Why blame him?
Get we're all angry. I am too! On his day Foran is outstanding and a real leader on our team. Will be missed. But the fact we signed him in the first place, and for so much ...! At the end of the day we made out bed we've got to suck it up and sleep in it.
Simples.
Medical retirement is only an option if the player wants to retire, club can't force him.Two options
Medical retirement; or
Club putting the pressure on him quietly to make sure he knows that the club doesn't see him in it's future plans and that if he chooses to play on in 2021 that he will be doing it in reserve grade.
Great post, the club showed him nothing but love and he repays us by being selfish. What a mess...
Foran came to Canterbury a broken man mentally and physically,
Canterbury lived up to the expectations and treated him like family.
His mate Hitler the cause of our problems, destroyed our playing roster and salary cap as if it was deliberately done, signing Foran was a final stamp of his great work at our club,
Kieran...Do you honestly believe you are worth a $1ml a season in the state your in ?
Isn't it time you started thinking beyond the DOLLAR sign ?
Or are you going to take the money and run back to Manly like your friend the mad scientist did ?
I don't wish you or anyone any harm...But I stopped feeling sorry !!!
The clincher is that the Club under Dibb, Castle and Hasler never organised a detailed due diligence into Foran. If they had run the ruler over him they would of seen the physical state his body was in. If he was a racehorse he would of been put out to pasture. Seriously his signing beggars belief.Worst ever signing in the history of the club.
3 million for 26 games in total..
Agree with everything you said regarding Dessies relationship with Foran being a factor in us signing him up without any proper due diligence... I doubt many clubs were even willing to pay him that much considering his injury history... Des just gave his mate a pay day.I cant deny that Foran has had a red hot crack every game hes played for us. Its just that each game we got out of him has cost us $115,000. Thats a record unlikely to be broken for a while I suggest.
Karl Filiga... His brother Kurt passed away at age 20 in 2010, very sad story, there's a little documentary about his life called, Kurt E "In My Blood" on you tube.Regarding the record... Who remembers Filiga Filiga? Aka the next SBW lol. Good old Ricky signed him from us on huge coin and he end up playing only 11 minutes of FG which works out to be something like 20k per min..
Exactly the scenario I see. Unless we could get some of that infection stuff Bargar$e gotCome on fellas, everybody knows Foran has another 1.2m to pocket + super + TPA's.
Foran and the club know it's all over.
After his second operation, Foran will play the tune of, "operation was successful, rehab is going good, body has never felt better, cant wait to get out with the boys".
This will drag out till the middle of the season while the bank account is rolling over. Come August, Foran will come out that he is retiring as he has been advised by the medical specialists.
(Knowingly Foran would not of had any offers to him from the Dogs or any other NRL clubs)
Every Tom, Dick and Harry knows it, and quite simply we are fucked for 1 more year. Thank you to the dickheads who brought him into our club
Probably Aidan Seizer
Don't fkn say thatProbably Aidan Seizer
That ain't a hit list it's a shit list! I'm done if they bring back Matt fucken Frawley!Revealed: Bulldogs draw up hit list to cover injured star Kieran Foran
Canterbury will not be in a position to make a late play for England-bound Aidan Sezer to replace the injured Kieran Foran.
But other Aussies currently playing Super League have emerged as potential targets.
The Daily Telegraph understands that while Sezer’s name came up in discussions this week the Bulldogs won’t be able to act in time to stop the Raiders half taking up a lucrative three-year deal at Huddersfield, worth more than $500,000 a season.
Sezer’s Canberra halves partner Sam Williams has been discussed as another possible option but it would be unlikely the Raiders would consider releasing him given Williams only just signed a new deal.
Other names being thrown at the Dogs in recent days include Josh Drinkwater (currently at Catalans) and former Bulldog Matt Frawley (at Huddersfield).
Jackson Hastings was another name mentioned but the recently crowned Man of Steel has committed to Wigan.
The Bulldogs already have Lachy Lewis and Jack Cogger as their first-choice halves pairing going forward, while youngster Brandon Wakeham has showed enormous promise.
But losing Foran has left them short on experience, and for that reason the club is considering bringing in a more senior playmaker.
One thing the club doesn’t want to do is rush into any decision that could impact the salary cap long term.
The Bulldogs are still coming to grips with the enormity of what Foran’s injury means on several fronts.
While the club will ultimately receive a salary cap exemption of up to $350,000, it is no guarantee they will get any compensation given Foran has had previous shoulder injuries.
The way the system works it is the club that foots the bill even though this latest injury occurred while Foran was away representing New Zealand.
In Foran’s case it is potentially an estimated setback of $1.5 million to the club’s bottom line, because not only do they pay Foran’s reported $1.2 million salary in full but his absence could require contract upgrades for other players or potentially paying an outside reinforcement.
On top of that, the Bulldogs still don’t know if they will be allowed to add an extra player to their 30-man roster for next season or play a man down for the majority of the season.
It again highlights why NRL clubs can be reluctant to release players for rep duty.
While most people recognise the need to grow the international game, surely there has to be a fairer system when injury strikes.
Canberra went through similar problems in recent years with Josh Hodgson and Jordan Rapana who both suffered serious injuries while away representing England and New Zealand respectively.
In the wake of Hodgson’s injury the NRL brought in salary cap relief of up to $350,000 but because Rapana returned before round 13 the Raiders still didn’t qualify for it.
Given the majority of Test matches are now played post season, it just seems ridiculous that clubs are not also compensated when players are forced to miss pre-season.
Foran has already had one surgery and will be back under the knife at the end of the month before his recovery starts.
At best he could be back for the last month of next season but the maximum relief is still only $350,000.
