When news of Walters moving on first broke the headline was he was sacked after an unfavourable internal review. Next he was undermined by the players and support staff.
Then later the spin was it was a mutually agreed decision and he decided to step down for family reasons.
Latest instalment, mensa club member Lockyer comes out and states Walters was replaced as board believe Madge had “qualities” better suited to take the club forward.
Shit stain of a club hope they get what they deserve and are also rans for the next 20 years.
Funny how all the old boys attacks are on McGuire and Reynolds but Lockyer who was part of the decision has been spared. McGuire has done nothing wrong. Of the players the only one who has kind of owned it been Cobbo.
Broncos allowed Walsh to become bigger than the club. How McGuire handles him will determine his and the Broncos destiny.
Morgan and Ribot were willing to back Bennett in moving on Lewis. I don’t think Lockyer & co will be as supportive if McGuire will have to move on Walsh. They’re just hoping it can miraculously work.
Walsh isn’t a third of the player of Lewis however Walsh is closer to 20 than 30 where Lewis had just ticked to the other side of 30. Walsh brings a different type of fan and member base. Those who adored Wally were mostly rusted on league fans.
Penrith board went behind certain backs to appoint a new coach for 2019. Slightly different situations in that they didn’t have a coach appointed for 2019 as the GM sacked the 2018 coach while still in the top 4. Similar in Penrith board betrayed the GM who had sacked & appointed previous coaches, Broncos board & players betrayed the old boys who drove out Seilbold and appointed Walters. Penrith board knew signing Cleary would result in dramatic departures and a dog of a season in 2019 as he changed Penrith’s culture they were prepared to accept it and back Ivan. Will the Broncos board show the same resolve and support if McGuire says we need to sack Walsh and some others if they don’t fall into line?
