Amazing how the media handles

The story isn't that Ponga was out drinking while his team was playing AND dealing with concussion issues and doing the obvious in toilet cubicles. The story is footy players need to watch for their surroundings when they are out and about because everyone has a phone

Seriously what a joke.

Guarantee Ponga will be sweet and Mann will get suspended or sacked.

Always thought Ponga was not much of a Captain, strange club in how they deal with things. Klemmer nearly gets the boot , 2 players stood down for being late for the bus, nothing for Ponga with a smother underway
Ponga doesn't care about footy. He is out celebrating because he purchased a property... seriously?

Bouncers get accused of all sorts of things.

Probably just covering his arse................................................Unlike Ponga
There are certain areas that should never have cameras being used in it and that’s one of them. Would they have been recording if it was the ladies?

What kind of a weirdo has their phone out recording people the bathroom anyway?
Was the security recording the other guard kicking them out. Obviously for their own protection, in particular with drunken patrons possibly getting violent, or having to eject female patrons.

Sounds logical, the police have body cams for this purpose too.

But Ponga wasn't told not to drink buy the medical staff. I kid you not. This is the shit they expect us to believe.

FMD Ponga was out celebrating in Newcastle while his team mates were playing in Brisbane, what team captain in his right mind thinks that is a good idea. Is there another NRL team captain who wouldn't have been in the coach's box and the dressing room before and after the game, supporting his fellow players. He was still breathing, still walking and talking, no problem with flying with concussion, why the fark wasn't he there? Absolutely piss poor exhibition from the team captain and the highest paid player in the team.

Who the fark gave him permission to stay away from the game, because he needs to wake up to himself as well.

If anyone was looking for sign as to why the Knoughts are farked, there is a prime one right there.

Not sure if he necessarily needed to travel to Brisbane, but otherwise completely agree with you.

This pretty much sums up the Knights season, it's gone down the toilet.

Currently they have the worst attack of any club with only 308 points scored and have the 3rd worst defensive record in the competition with the Titans and Warriors the only 2 other clubs conceding more points and have the worst differential of any club with a -252 differential.

They're firming by the week to gain the wooden spoon and have also lost their marquee player in Ponga for the season to multiple concussions and now this latest issue is just compounding their problems and the end of the season can't come soon enough.

In brighter news for the club they have secured the signatures of Adam Elliott and Jack Hetherington for season '23. :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

The NRL sent drug testers to Newcastle on Tuesday to test the pair, but the result will not be made public.

Under NRL rules, a first positive result is only shared with the club chief executive and doctor. The player receives a suspended fine and is required to undergo counselling.

A second strike sees the player cop a 12-match ban and “the prospect of contract termination, a fine, and further treatment and monitoring”, according to the NRL.

Third time offenders will face “more severe disciplinary action”. The NRL is pushing for hair follicle testing in the wake of recent scandals.

Players currently have their urine tested, which only detects drugs taken in the previous 1-3 days. Hair follicle testing can detect substances like cocaine for up to three months.

As part of the collective bargaining agreement, NRL players cannot be tested for drugs in the off-season, or on their days off. That means players can go months without fear of being tested.

It is not known how often players are tested for illicit drugs, but Immortal Andrew Johns famously revealed he used recreational drugs throughout his career.

“To ensure the program’s integrity and effectiveness clubs or players are not aware of the timing or number of drug tests,” the NRL’s illicit drugs policy reads.

“Substances such as amphetamines (a category that includes as speed, ecstasy and ice), ketamine, cannabis, cocaine, opiates, and synthetic versions of those drugs are all prohibited under the policy.

“In addition to these, the NRL also analyses samples for prescription drugs such as benzodiazepines.
“Players found to be using illicit drugs have immediate access to professional support and treatment to overcome the potential effects on their health.”

If so a massive fail for duty of care ..

Can You Drink Alcohol with A Concussion?
Drinking alcohol with a concussion can be damaging to the brain’s recovery. It may prolong symptoms or in some cases, even make them worse. Because alcohol is a psychoactive substance, it alters brain function. A concussed brain can be especially sensitive to these changes, which can make the effects of alcohol more pronounced. Even just one drink with a concussion could lead to intoxicating effects that make concussion symptoms worse. Alcohol is also a neurotoxin that can kill brain cells and make recovery more challenging when the brain is trying to heal. Your best bet is to avoid drinking after a concussion altogether.

Along with hindering recovery, having alcohol after a concussion could potentially lead to further injury. A concussion already can lead to confusion, impaired coordination, or cause dizziness. When combined with alcohol that has similar effects, the results may be stronger symptoms that can lead to injury from a fall or accident. If someone with a concussion experiences another brain injury, it could lead to permanent brain damage. Unfortunately, not everyone is willing or able to give up drinking alcohol with a concussion. If you find yourself or a loved one unable to stop drinking after a concussion, they may have an alcohol problem and need inpatient oroutpatient addiction treatment to get better.

Drinking with a concussion isn’t the only thing you should avoid. Psychoactive substances and sometimes neurotoxins as well as illicit drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine can cause damaging effects to the brain on their own. Like with alcohol, taking these illicit drugs when you have a concussion can hinder the recovery process or make concussion symptoms worse. It is best to avoid taking any unnecessary drugs when you have a concussion and get any medications you do take cleared by your doctor.

Ponga and Mann racking lines in the toilet is not a good look and for them being there instead of at the game shows where Newcastle's culture is at.....but the worst part of the whole incident is the people filming and knocking on the toilet door. Fkn snitch clowns. What kinda man films another man in the toilet to get him in trouble or sell to the media.
