Nasheed here,
Coming at YOU.

Is the current dogs team the quickest we have ever fielded?

it is very very rare for us to have genuine speedsters. We had Howland and Leon Bott in lower grades, but they barely saw first grade.
Even 'speedsters' like Silva and Barba were quick but they weren't lightning quick. They were footy quick. Quick off the mark.
We usually get stuck with players like Polglase, El Masri, Halligan, Lester, Timu, Tallinn. All players @EB18 would smoke in a foot race.
Today's team we actually have some of the fastest in the NRL.
Reimis Smith. Who actually is on record below being he's the fastest in the comp. you got to be up there to make that claim.
Nick Meaney. The recorded fastest in the club and genuinely quick.
JMK. Along side Cook, by far the quickest hookers in the comp.

you also have DWZ, Holland and Montoya who are all pretty decent as well.

Actually, was the 2019 team the quickest? Given we can add Rhyse 'Siberian cowboy' Martin to the list? Who was actually considered the fastest second rower in 2019.
Remember there was an article stating the fastest players by position and Rhyse was the fantasy second rower and JMK the fastest Hooker?

And we know Reimis and Meaney have them covered right? Nasheed.

We had the fastest team a few years back. When Tony Williams, Sam Kasiano, Greg Eastwood and even a certain unpopular staff member (I'm looking at Cleal here), we were bloody quick. It's not on record, but the club won consecutive pie eating contests and broke records in the process.

We are the slowest team in the comp. Reimis is slow. He’s fast after about 20m.... but he can’t make more than 5m a hit up so he’s useless

I remember a game in 2012 where Ben Macdougall easily chased down Colin Best, same game he broke his hand attempting to make a tackle.

How does lack of hit ups indicate team speed?

We are slow. Especially when Hooky is on the field slowing the team down.

Bulldogs fan here: a fast root is a good root, a slow root is a good root, a root is a good root, root with an animal not a good root.

A potato is a good root, garlic is a good root, carrots are good roots, ginger is a good root, radishes are shit roots and I'm not keen on onions either. Garlic, potatoes and carrots are all good with most commercially available animal products so I disagree that roots with animals are not good roots. It just depends on how they're cooked.

If you are talking about roots in terms of fucking, humans are part of the animal kingdom in classification terms, so by excluding animals you forego the chance to mate with other humans. None of the other kingdoms in scientific terms arouse me.

I really shouldn't post at 5.30am when I've had no sleep.

Its not a quick backline, its not an elusive backline, it is not a dynamic backline - its is an ordinary clunky backline. Even the quicker players Meaney n Smith take forever to get to their individual top speed.

Speed is a great strike weapon, if you know how to use it. It works when you have a speedster who supports a break.

It is frustrating to see our backs stand back and watch their forwards punch holes through the defense, then wait for the next unsupported forward run. We have had plenty of opportunities, even with the team we are fielding, if only someone was steaming through in support. As it is, the forwards have come to expect no support; so don't look for it - and go to ground with the ball. They also have no incentive to play the ball quickly because nobody is lining up to take a pass at speed.

There are some players that, when they are put through a hole, you know they will score - Barba was one of those, even if he wasn't the fastest in the NRL.
We don't have any "put down the glasses" players who will get the fans on their feet the minute they get the ball. And we don't have any players "hungry" for a try, always looking for opportunities. Players like that don't need a lot of speed - just timing and consistency. They also give the defence another player to watch when we are on their line; and helps spread them out to create gaps.

All the other teams know we have no strike weapon, and can contain us easily. They know the simplest tactic is to rush up and force a Bulldog mistake. Their backs also know that a kick on the fifth will be an easily uncontested mark. We have nobody who can arrive the same time as the ball, unless it's a short kick - and even then we rarely get the timing right, and just give away a penalty.

Speed is wasted in the team we currently have. Ado Carr would only catch a cold on the wing.
