I'm pretty sure Williams' defensive position hasn't actually changed. I think he was always one in from left centre. I could be wrong though.

I definitely agree though that Hodkinson changing sides has definitely contributed to our poor defense on the left side. As well as Morris not being there of course.
Williams used to have Hodkinson on his inside. Halves play an important role in making early inside defensive decisions that affects what the outside backs do.

I remember Andrew Johns saying that TRex might struggle a little with this, which would ultimately impact the entire bacline defence; a kind of flow-on.

T Rex is a great defender when he doesn't have to make too many decisions or slide too much.

I hope I don't get slaughtered for this..

I have heard from someone I know who is very close to a senior player within our group, that the bulldogs are heavily chasing Hayne for 2016.

This could be valid on the basis we have been missing specialist fullbacks for a while now ?
Hayne wont come to us, straight from his mouth. He has also turned us down before so i doubt we would chase him again. If this is true that we are waiting till 2016, well fark me i don't want another year with a shit fb.

Honestly can't see the club doing it. If he turns around mid 2015 and says no thanks and theres no one on the market were screwed for 2015 and 2016. Haynes also recently said if he wanted to go elsewhere he would have done it already.

I never thought these words would find themselves on my screen but unfortunately our only option is to throw the cheque book at Brett Stewart and hope he is granted a release.

We can't go through 2015 without a specialist fullback. In the modern game it's not realistic to be able to hold every team in the comp to two tries and score three yourself (maybe) in order to win.

Smelly fingers is exactly the type of player we need to score a try and set one up every game, he would transform our attack. I know he's as brittle as his defence for the sexual assault allegations were but we have guys that can fill in, as long as he's healthy for the finals series next year we'd become genuine premiership favourites in my opinion.

Broncs and titans both over the cap?

How we can't snare a fullback whilst broncs have possibly 4 first choice fullbacks at most clubs next year is beyond me
I would not want any of the 4 anyway!!

You are spot on Rothanaa about T-Rex being partly to blame. In the Tigers game you could clearly hear Keith Lulia telling Brooks and Moses to "give me the ball so I can beat T-Rex". T-Rex was defending next to Inu and Low. The 3 of them had absolutely no idea when compared to the safe Thompson, Lafai & Hodko combination on the RHS.

Does anyone think having Williams at 5/8 leads to poor defensive reads which puts pressure on our left side? I know hodko has been playing there all season till Reynolds got suspended. Everyone knows one hodko strengths is his defence.

True or not I am not comfortable sacrificing almost 3 seasons waiting for someone like Hayne. Lets bear in mind that as mentioned above there were other FB's that have been available that we obviously didn't sign. I will need some help on this to remember them all but Tomkins, Fisiano, Hoffman, Locke, Tedesco, C. Rowe I think, Moylan, Dugan, Dugans fellow lollie water drinker that signed with the Rorters?? and whoever else? Some fail the DH test but my point is that waiting 3 seasons to get a particular one when if we had got any of the above chances of a premiership would be high. Other than wingers all we need is a FB and the puzzle should be complete. Either some very poor running at our OR a "Rockstar" next season..................Hayne in 2016 and wasting next year too is just such a waste of the present years.

I wouldn't mind that fast c*** they got, is it James Roberts or something?
The irony is we could have got Roberts easily, however we were worried about his off-field dramas. That Reni had, Phillips had and Beale has... Would love some raw speed at our club, would be nice to steal RTS off the chooks, will never happen though lol. In all honesty we should have thrown the checkbook, I'm talking 500K per season at young Matt Moylan.
However for 2015 this would be more than enough to get us a shot at the premiership
1. Stewart
6. Reynolds
7. Hodkinson
9. Lichaa

Fifita was offerred $750k p.a. So since then we have upgraded Browne's contract and that is all. So basically the entire $750k plus next years cap increase is available as outside of FB we have no real need to upgrade other positions. Based on that if we get to march next year and we have no 'rockstar' FB then we are under the cap in 2015. I believe this sounds about right but more than happy to open a discussion as I am no expert.
I do not think (and hope) that this will happen but if it does then that would be a disgrace for this club. I just do not understand how this could be so given the coach, the board and the facilities available. FFS we are a successful club. Why are we not able to get anyone?

Doubt the clubs bigwigs would last 6 months if they neglect to sign someone till 2016.

Off field problems.

But I said a while back he was decent.. quick as a flash.

You'd have to say Tomkins would have been a more safe prospect on and off the field than Beale.
Tomkins reportedly homesick, and will be cutting short his NRL contract one year and heading back to Wigan after 2015 season.

If Tomkins leaves the Warriors are still well covered in Fullbacks.

1. Glen Fisi'iahi - Could stay at wing if Brad Abbey develops physically.
2. David Fusitua
3. Konrad Hurrell
4. Ngani Laumape
5. Manu Vatuvei - Wants a move to the backrow.
