The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs can confirm Matt Doorey has suffered an ACL injury following the club’s round 24 match with the Manly Sea Eagles.

Doorey left the field during the first half with a knee injury and General Manager of Football Phil Gould confirmed the devastating news today.

“Bulldog Matt Doorey scans have confirmed ACL injury. Surgery being organised. Such bad luck for the young man. We will get him fixed up and back training with the boys ASAP. He suffered an ACL rupture. Determining extent of damage to Medial ligament as MRI report conflicts clinical diagnosis. Damage to medial ligament may delay surgery, waiting for that to heal (6 weeks), but if medial ligament not as bad can operate when swelling subsides. A recovery time frame is anywhere from 6-9 months before ready to play and will all depend on when surgeons can actually operate and recovery rates can vary,” said Gould.

He also provided an update on Raymond Faitala-Mariner.

“Bulldog Ray Faitala-Mariner recently underwent bone graft surgery to repair a foot fracture which has failed to heal several months after a previous surgery. Reports from Surgery were promising and Ray has been recovering at home. Hope of return to running by November.”

It's bad luck for Doorey after he had a big game. RFM is just always injured and a waste of cap space.
That injury has a pretty high chance of re-injury too.

My mate has done the same injury as rfm and it stopped him playing footy as he kept re-breaking it. Quite concerning seeing as though he’s had all year to recover already and nothing has healed

If RFM is running in November he can be ready to play by Round 1. If he reinjures the foot in that time he might pack it in.

RFM should have had the bone graft done months ago, an Autologous Graft is the most likely procedure for success with a fracture in that area. I don’t know who it was that was resisting, RFM or his specialist, but they should have gone there after 4 to 6 weeks when it wasn’t healing properly.
