I've observed after these two petrifying performances that some players genuinely don't have that playing ability or speed that they used to. The two Morris twins are way past it but are still one of the best duos. However there are better options in terms of backs who have speed and agility. This is required to win a premiership in the modern age.

Various duds such as Eastwood, tolman, Frawley, Hopoate are not nrl standard anymore. Frawley consistently shows that he is not a capable half. I can not exaggerate the sheer amount of times he has kicks that just baffle me. And heading to tolman where he can make could backward metres and is defensively is sound.

Forget about Eastwood and Hopoate they talk for themselves. Furthermore there are a multitude of replacements available primarily in 2019. Next year and in the offseason we need to focus on selling duds and bringing up the youth.

Can't really argue with that mate. Hoppa looks better at Centre for sure BUT the reason we are where we are is due to complacency about our players and paying for services not rendered. Unless Morris twins take atleast a 50% pay cut I couldn't justify keeping them tbh.

Pay couldn't do too much this year with the roster he inherited, unfortunately were stuck with a bunch of players we need to get rid of who are on backended contracts. Roster has been our issue for a few seasons now.

We do have cogger coming next year for frawley and I'm sure there will be more turn over later in the year.

This could be a long season for us unfortunately.

Between this year and next year I would say big money players like the morrises should be targets. It will free up some cash for a big off season signing.

These are the figures being thrown around, correct me if I’m wrong

BMoz 800k
Jmoz 800k
Eastwood 800k
Tolman 500k
Hoppa 500k
Graham 500k despite being at Dragons

If that’s the case, we have 40% of our cap right there fellow supporters. So stop blaming Pay, our roster is the worst in the competition at the moment and will take a couple of years to rectify.

Pay can't take all the blame. The players are below average and are taking up such a huge amount of the Cap.

I doubt very much we'll be playing finals footy this year. We just don't have the cattle. We need a couple of years at least for Pay to build a team he wants. Players like Tolman, Eastwood, Morris twins, Hoppa and Frawley are good players and have served the club well but they ain't gonna take us to September. For me, this year is about developing an attacking game, watching Foran stay on the paddock and getting his head back into footy, watching Mbye turn into a specialist fullback, watching Woods and Klemmer dominate up front and hoping like fuck that Elliot comes good.

Eastwood, Tolman, Frawley, Hoppa, Elliot, need to make way. When they are on the field together, it’s like watching the paralympics.

Paralympians (spelling) are a bad reference (although I know your joking) as they remarkably overcome the odds have heart and keep going, qualities our players don't do.

Complete rebuild required. Only players I would keep from the current squad would be Mbye, Klemmer, RFM and Woods. The rest need to go. Tough 2-3 years ahead and more than likely we will go through what Knights did over the last few years.

While we could debate a couple incl / exclusions, I agree with this. I would go hard as hell at some of the best young talent at other clubs, pay overs if necessary but get best of generation next.

A lot of cap space will be available for next year - not sure if there is quality on the market though.

Is it too early to find out who is off contract next year?

If we could afford them and actually land them I doubt anyone wouldn't want this team.

Would love if we landed Granville, Folau and even Coote. Segi would be perfect off the bench.

Foran definitely needs helps.

Before it was all on Reynolds to create something out of nothing with his erratic playing style and now its all on Foran with his direct structured style which is being shut down as he is the only one creating something

Maybe not next year, I have a feeling Foran and Woods have been backended and a big chunk of this years contracts will be paid next year.

It’s still pays job to get the best out of the roster he has. That’s definitely not happening at the moment.
I expect improvements next season, but writing off this season would be catastrophic.
