Has to go. Lost the game for the dogs last night with his dropped ball. Once in attack with a try opportunity in the offing and one in his own half which led to a try. No zip throughout the entire 80minutes. He was Mr. Invisible out there last night. The reserves gave Canberra a shellacking so no reason for saving Barrett's training paddock favourites. Wakeham had a good game and Biondi-Ono showed up Averillo's missing zip when he came on against the Broncos. Okunboor's spot on the right wing can go to Jacob Kiraz.

You lot are the clueless *****, it really isn't hard to work out why he is there. Maybe use your tiny little brains and actually think instead of just yelling 'hE's Not a HaLfBaCk' all the time. Wakeham is the only player that could start ahead of him at this stage but certain decisions were made last season and during preseason that meant otherwise. Like i said its not hard just use your fucking brain. No doubt the same clowns will be on the back of the next poor **** that gets a run there anyway and will just want to move onto the next guy again.
He’s got no idea what to do with the ball. I want one of the other halves in the team so they can form combinations with burton and the other players. They are better options then averillo. Time for you to open your eyes and watch the game properly. All the positive results when attacking aren’t from averillo. It’s like hot potato when he gets the ball. He’s making a fool of himself out there along with okunbor. They wouldn’t make a top grade team in a local league

If Wakehams form continues and Averillos doesn't then a couple more rounds should do it.

Today might be the end of his run at 7
Is he handing over the naked photos of the coaching staff too. He must have something on them for him to keep getting picked every week in a position that everyone in the rugby league world know he isnt suited too!

Can't we just put Ava to the wing or centre (moving Naden to wing), and then Wakeham or Flanno comes into the team at 7. Solves the Okonabor issue at the same time.

We need cohesion.
Chopping and changing positions isnt going to allow for combinations to form.
We lost but we improved in a few areas.
I dont see why Baz would want to mess with that.
I wouldnt be surprised if Baz persists with Avo a while longer.

I thought he was a little better in round two but in my opinion, BBO is a more promising half that plays like a half because that’s his specialised role and he understands it - there’s an obsession with Avo because he’s a local - he’s been given plenty of opportunity to shine. Perhaps give him the Manly game but if it’s another average game, we need to look at BBO, he is our best option and future investment.

Until we can find a better half. Who’s out in the market who would fit in with Burton?

I’ve had a theory before the season started, and it’s that Jake is in there to take the pressure off Flanagan, and allow Flanagan time to build his confidence in reserves.

I think the plan has always been to bring Flanagan in a bit later.
I think it’s Gus’s plan.

I reckon the only chance Flange has of ever seeing a dogs 1st grade jersey again is if Avo, Wakeham, BBO and JMK all get picked for NSW for S.O.O…

So tell us. Why is he there. Don’t just say it’s not hard to work out as a cop out and tell us why? I’d love to here this

I have told you guys numerous times but as usual all you have done is deflect rather than actually offer any sort of counter when you haven't agreed with me. But for one more final time i will lay it all out so we can hopefully put this ridiculous back and forth to bed.

It's called a lack of quality in the player pool and investing in potential. Many coaches have tried to manufacture halves from players that have a strong athletic base as they would rather work off that and try and develop key skills as they go along. Jake was one of these players and you only have to go back and look at how well he was playing around the time he was breaking through and it was partly why he was shifted into the halves before being promoted to reserve grade. You also have to consider our circumstances and realistically 2023 is our target year for when we want to cement ourselves as genuine contenders in the NRL so we have some time to work with. Last season Jake was forced into the role because nobody else was good enough while there were also many things going on behind the scenes at training and off the field. The decision to invest in Jake was made there and he was always going to start the year in the halves. You also have to consider our playstyle, it looks certain that we're looking to play off offloads and quick play the balls and that's something Jake can potentially work off. Also what does Burton want? It's entirely possible he also had a say in who was partnering him considering Baz and the club basically treat him like royalty.

As i've said before things can change and what was best in the moment might now be in a month, a couple months or a year down the track. We ALL know he isn't a halfback now but some of us can understand why the decision was made and just want to be supportive even if we don't agree with it all. The carry on has also been ridiculous, Jake hasn't been great but he hasn't exactly been bad either. There has also been some improvements, good signs and some combinations building but you all just seem to totally ignore it and exaggerate every little thing he does wrong and even go as far as to make things up and its just stupid.

Wakeham as a natural half if he can string a few good games in a row after last game he should be knocking on the door

I keep hearing “ natural half” thrown around, what is that?
