Trent Barrett apparently has told William Hopoate and DWZ that they are not in his future plans and that if they can secure another gig elsewhere for next year, they will be granted a release. This has not gone over well with Tyran Smith and he is making moves to take out his whole stable of players, which includes his son. English international Oliver Gildhardt could be on the move to Belmore to replace Hoppa as a specialist left centre with Trent Barrett being a big fan. A source close to Barrett has also confirmed Jake Averillo will be the Bulldogs number 1, come round 1. So the Bulldogs could go from the worst attacking side to having one of the fastest most dangerous looking back lines. This being next year’s possible lineup:

1. Jake Averillo
2. Josh Ado Carr
3. Oliver Gildhardt
4. Nic Cotric
5. Jayden Okunbor
6. Matt Burton
7. Kyle Flanagan

Exciting times ahead at Belmore.

We'd have to pay freight for DWZ, someone will pick Hopoate up for what he's on. I find it hard to believe we'd be getting rid of Hopoate as well as playing JAC on the wing at first. I need something more concrete before I start believing rumours like this.

JAC won’t come to be a winger..
If we are any chance of him coming,he will want the 1 spot..
Katoa and Okunbor on the wing..
Gildart and Cotric in the centres..
Averillo and Flanagan in the 6 and 7

I'd rather save cash for a big fish instead of splashing out on an untested back from England.
Agree. I like Gildart but honestly would probs be better off playing Schoupp or taking a punt on Walker if manly chuck in a fair chunk of his salary.

Huge claims to make really. But it's easy to make these claims with our present media attitude being that it's better to have anything to say than to wait until you have real news.

Hasn't Hoppa been player of the year or close to, the last couple of seasons. I tend to think, he has been pretty good in a bog average team (halves of lewis, awful hookers etc). Imagine what he would be able to do in a backline moving forward with speed and halves putting them in space. I reckon he would carve up. Give him a year Barrett and then give him the flick if he isn't what you want.
I would put Hoppa above unproven Gildart.

I'd be happy for Averillo to get a shot at fullback. I wouldn't lose any sleep if any of those three were moved on. Hoppa is solid and still has a bit to offer as a centre but his best footy is behind him. If it costs 100-150k to move on from DWZ then it would be worth it to free up extra cap space.. Reimis may reach his potential elsewhere but his attitude has been so shit with us that I don't care if he does.

Gildart looks good and would be an exciting signing. He reminds me of Lomax from Saints but looks like a better athlete. Daryl Clark should be another target from the ESL if Grant or Brandon Smith aren't realistic options.

Agree with all of this. Hoppa isn't the future, and selling him now would be smart.

I do question what you're saying about Averillo being Barrett's first choice fullback tho.

Why did we go hard in for Staines then? And also JAC? Doesn't make sense to me

Fucking loving Baz...every single plodder we (the kennel geniuses) have identified as not being FG material, he has/will be getting rid of. Under Pay, most of these plodders would have probably been extended. At least the bloke has an eye for talent.

Disappointed Lewis wasn't on the list. Obviously Burton and Flanagan are clear indications he doesnt rate Lewis (or Wakeham) but he should be gone this time next year

I've got no problem with Avo at FB or with Gildart at center (looks like he has some x-factor). Finally we might have an attacking side that can put 50 on someone - ideally the Drags, Eels and Rorters.
