Thought this might be an interesting exercise given how many TKers think Hetho is our future in the front row.

Minutes playedRunsRun metresPost contact mtrsRun mtrs/minuteRun mtrs/runTackle breaksTacklesTackles/minuteMissed tackles
Hetho6916121401.757.561210.304
TPG3411126483.7111.455130.381
Tolman4612116302.529.661300.650

Also 1 line break and 1 try for TPG, and 1 line break for Tolman, nothing for Hetho. 2 offloads for Tolman, 1 for Hetho, 1 for TPG. No pens or 6 agains for TPG and Tolman, 1 and 2 for Hetho.

Hetho is not a starting prop. Today I notice a lot of people putting him in their 3-2-1 for the game against Manly. His average metres today was worse than Tolman's last season, and he couldn't even manage half the tackle count Tolman would at least contribute. No argument Tolman couldn't stay, he was on too much, but Hetho is not the answer as starting prop, and unless he can come off the bench and produce the same performance he did today in 35-40 minutes he isn't even a decent benchie. He LOOKS aggressive, but looks aren't everything, his numbers are worse than Tolman, and way worse than TPG.

I asked a few other people who watched the game today how many minutes they thought Hetho played. The range they guessed was between 50 and 56. He went missing during parts of the game today, and he frequently does. For all the excitement in the few moments in the 2nd half where he ran a bit wider at some smaller defenders, he didn't make a single line break, and only 1 tackle break, and even given that chance and some room to run onto the ball and into the defense he couldn't get his average metres per run above 8m, which is surely the minimum required.

If Hetho keeps getting selected to start and plays as many minutes as guys like Thommo, TPG, and Vaughn next season, and doesn't up his game, it will be the beginning of the end for TBaz.

Hypethrington isn't fit to lace Tolman's boots.

Tolman was banging down the door of rep footy when he played with us early in his career.

The thing you get with Hetherington, u certainly dont want to play against him and i noticed today the other team targets him when he gets the ball. He pulls three defenders out of the line, all have eyes for his head, A good coach would recognise this and use him as a decoy.

You’d bring him on for 20 mins. Has enough crazy in him to change a game. But only thing is will it be changed in your favour or against it.

He does have some speed, but has no tap on his aggression. That’s his biggest problem.

He'd unlikely make any other sides starting pack as a middle, but would be in contention for a bench spot at most clubs.
I'd like to see him on an edge next year to see how he goes there.

He has the potential to provide something off the bench. Get him out there to do 5 or 6 strong well timed hit ups either side of half time, and put in with defense (though he just has to go lower, end of story). Work on a couple of plays between him and the spine designed to either get him into a bit of space or get a decent offload out of him, and that's it, keep it simple. If he can get decent numbers from 30-35 minute stints for a season or two, then maybe a team (not necessarily us) might consider giving him a go on the run on team.

Hetherington will be a great bench prop in a team that performs much better. Once the spirits of the team are lifted so will his form. However, one thing is his technique especially rushing up with a flailing arm - that needs to leave his game otherwise mininum 10 games suspensions

He had a good game today and is still developing, He is far off his peak. Most of his runs were up the middle tpjs were more on the edge with afew up the mdidle so i dont see why the op is comparing their stats.

For someone who will be suspended so much, you'd be foolish to invest in him as a starter

Did people even watch all these three games?

I agree he's a benching at best but lol....we had like 30 odd percent ball. So we were always going backwards. The second half we started off with defending four sets. But yeah let's compare that to what TPJ and Tolman had to deal with lol.

This is a dumb thread and a shit take. Last week TPG made 12 runs for 70 meters against Souths and Tolman made 11 runs for 77 meters against Newcastle. Why don't we compare apples to apples. Against Manly three weeks ago Tolman ran for 57 meters from 7 runs.

TPG and Tolman played two teams out of the eight this week. We played a team inside thd top 4. Opposition matters. Hetheringtons last match against the Tigers he made 13 runs for 123 meters and the week before that against the Titans he made 16 runs for 170 meters.

Let's not nitpick stats. Hetherington is a good player, he just needs to control his aggression. After seeing that cat Napa for three seasons, its refreshing to see a prop who doesn't take a backwards step.

Speaking of Napa he is back next week and despite surplus to requirements next year he will no doubt start and push Patolo out of squad
