Opinion Has anyone got any news on how the Bulldogs players have been going in the off season?

From The training that iv seen and the junior trials the most obvious difference is the emphasis on talk in defence - its pshed and pushed from traners way beyond just reminding and encouraging to talk
Definitely! Even when there is nothing happening they are practicing their calls and talk. At one stage Kiraz was screaming at Ray for him to shift and he needs help........ RAY I NEED HELP! the opposite side hadnt even line-ed up yet. NEVER a quiet moment.

He isnt being lazy which is good... he just struggles to keep up.
Gus mentioned he recently had Covid so hopefully he’s just struggling to get back full fitness and respiratory functions as I’m really hoping he kills it, so much potential.

Also thanks for all the player info, that was an interesting read ..

Hard to pin point the line-up tbh because they're running 3 separate line-ups but the best bet would be..

Perham - Killing it at FB. Coaches love him, because he really puts in. big body, big talker, worried about motor.
Kiraz - Growing in spades, needs experience inside him.
Averillo - Softy needs to pull up, weakens that right edge. Reckon Casey would be first cat of the rank if not Burns.
Alamoti - Looks like he gets the nod, will run hard lines and used as a decoy more than anything I reckon.
JAC - What a signing. Has definitely put his stamp on the transformation of the club... Never a dull moment at training, rubbing off on the players.
Burton - Burto, shoot for the stars kiddo, Dally M awaits.
Flannagan - Bulked up. For some reason everybody gives it to him but.... FLANNAGAN! I think the kid is in for a solid year.
Pangai - on ice... taking it sneezy
Reed - Your gonna love him! Leader.
King - Steady as she goes.
Kikz - WOW.. watching this guy sprint the length of the field is like being at the races.
RFM - Right edge
Thommo - Looking very good, fit as a fiddle, ready to rip in, playing at first receiver?

Sutto - BFF with Thommo. Not as big as first thought but solid.
Waddell - This guy is super super fit.
Preston - Cant believe the roosters let him go.. Very impressive filling in for kikz at left edge.
Topine - Dont see why you wouldnt..

Franklin's motor is shot but he is trying hard and boys are pushing him hard.

Sprint coach is awesome, Strength and conditioning awesome

Forwards getting hammered with fitness

Backline is running play after play after play after play.

Dont like a forward a first receiver tbh. Can see the difference in speed when it happens...

As for Captain... None the wiser. From today it looked like JAC, Thommo and Reed were heads and shoulders above the rest.
Thank you sir

Just got back from the open training session on thursday
Went for nearly 3 hours
This is what I picked up ;
- burton will not be captian. Very very quiet. It’s down to Mahoney, fox, rfm, and king. I still believe it will be co captains.

- Hayze perham will start the year at fullback unless he has an absolute shocker in the trials.

- alomoti and averillo centres, alomoti just slightly ahead of burns at this stage.

- nu brown will be the 14 jersey

- Ryan Sutton is a definite member of the 17 if not has a mortgage on the lock pos

- max king played prop not lock

- Reed is a freak and is very impressive during drills and fitness

- Khaled will start the year at fullback in reggies

- rfm played right side

- Jacob Preston will be a household name amongst real bulldogs fans by seasons end

- Cory waddel was trash and was in Reggie’s side all session

- pele and Patolo not up to fg at this stage

- tpj will play middle and not edge

- flanagan had some very nice touches however his kicking tan is still abysmal

- kikau was on light duties and is still conditioning back into 100-%

alomoti was given a work over in defence and they are really trying to bring his def up to scratch by round 1. The fox non stop into him and a perfect foil To have next to him even though his fav position is right centre, ciraldo won’t go with Kiraz and alomoti on the right. It’s much easier to defend on the left centre pos than right.

- we won’t have trouble scoring points but defensively at centre is a concern

- here goes my predicted 1-barring injuries and at full sttength

1. perham
2. Kiraz
3. Aberillo
4. Alomoti
5. Ado carr
6. Burton
7. Flanagan
8. Thompson
9. Mahoney (c)
10. King
11. Rfm
12. Kikau
13. Sutton
14. nu brown
15. Tpj
16. Preston
17. Davey

sorry for the lengthy post
Can’t wait for season kick off

Hi Finchie,

Can you explain whether you think we will be playing off Mahoney as a centre point for our attack? Also did anyone else slot into FB other than Perham?

Mahoney’s passing is crisp
Max king did a lot with Mahoney in the middle
Mahoney will definitely run the ball more
I’m just worried about being one middle to short
A lot hinges on tpj
If he fires than it’s wowwwwwww

Cheers mate. My favourite part of this was the Corey Waddell bit

He didn’t get one look in with the firsts
Even when they interchanged bibs and trialed new interchange positions
He remained with the Reggie’s

one point nu brown just ran straight over him and scored
It was borderline embarrassing because they actually weren’t holding much back in the opposed session

I’m surprised that Alamoti is likely to start round 1. Many people have said it, but one of the most convincing was what Willie Mason said about him on the podcast recently. He couldn’t have been more impressed with the kid, and reckons he would have made his debut last year, but for a syndesmosis injury.

Can’t wait to see him develop in the top grade. Looking forward to seeing how Perham goes at fullback too. He has the look of a real goer. Where to for Avo then? Hmm, as many of us have thought for a long time now, he may not have what it takes. Maybe centre? He’s played his best footy as a centre. Give him a go at 7 I reckon. He won’t be any worse than Flanno and at least offers a dangerous and quick runner in the middle. Plus he may just excel with a proper hooker.
