Bulldogs release Morgan Harper

Morgan Harper has joined the Manly Sea Eagles after an agreement between the two clubs was reached last week in regard to Harper joining the club before starting a two year deal in 2021.

Harper will link up with the Sea Eagles for the rest of this season.

The 21-year old became the 800th player to wear the blue and white jersey after he made his NRL debut for the Bulldogs last season against the Brisbane Broncos in round 25.

The club would like to wish Morgan all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts on behalf of the Bulldogs.

Harper wasn't banging the door down, but still should have been given a go this season as one of the few players on our roster that actually specialises as a centre.

It's hard to feel miffed about him pursuing a better offer though because at least at NRL level he didn't showcase much of his skill set. I hope he does well at Manly.

I think Harper will get a run this year at Manly. I think he's decent and don't understand why he never got a chance.

He won't be a star and maybe he won't even be a first grader but either way I don't know why we didn't find out for sure first when proven duds like Holland, Montoya and Crichton were played ahead of him.

Imagine thinking Remis Smith was a better center prospect than Harper and not giving him a chance in a season when we were severely lacking center options. Another poor decision by Poor Dean Pay

So did we bend over backwards to make this happen? Did we get anything in return? They have to have a player somewhere in their system (be it NYC or Reserve grade) that we could have swapped. Dont get why we do so much for other teams, we are like the fat ugly chick that just tags along and does everything.

Like others have said if CHN goes we need something to make it happen, eg if storm want him then hello Grant for 2021. We need to start being ruthless. Bullfrog would never have allowed us to operate like this, no other club would give us free rides like we give them.

Fingers crossed for the NBA

Its demoralising knowing that we would only used to struggle for a year or 2 then always bounce back in a big way. This is the only time in my life I have seen us consistently being a bottom 8 team for the best part of 4-5 years. Scary thing is the light at the end of the tunnel is quickly fading, and we seem to be going deeper and deeper into the mess.
