Long shot, I don’t think he’s very good, yet Chad Townsend for next year??? Despite my not liking him a great deal, the one thing we’ve lacked and clearly don’t have is a game manager. Someone to sense momentum and how to slow it down and get it back.
Townsend is so bloody hard to look at lol.

Ever since that escort fiasco against the tigers in Townsville I cannot stand him one bit. He would not be worth throwing money at anyway he's an average NRL half at best

That's just what I see when reading Phil's comments. Gives the assistant a massive wrap (like he did late last year)
The players tried their guts out but just weren't as good as we were hoping they'd be in round 1 etc...

Bloody oath they should have tried there guys it out. They're all fit and healthy and get paid exceptionally good salaries to do their job. They're professional athletes not hacks
It’s not excuses it’s what happened, and if you think otherwise that’s your opinion.
Look what happened to Penrith, south’s and broncos and look at what’s happening to the dolphins under Wayne.
It’s only first round judge them by 5 th round

Not to quote what we used to say about Reynolds
And Lewis but atleast they will try. Burton couldn’t care less the way he plays
Has Burton ever taken a hard yardage direct run into forwards, he is big enough to help take pressure off forwards. I can't recall him ever doing it.

That’s my take too, yet is he a genuine footy nerd, that understands game management. I doubt hes worth it

Yes of course that's fair, I wasn't being one bit critical of the players they went hard as you'd expect in a round one fixture

He has no desire in any part of the game. Probably find out later he doesn’t even love league but wanted to set himself up for life.

That's quite likely very plausible. Hate being one of these types but it's true in this case I have some friends that are quite close to Moses Mbye and his brother Matty.
They've said many times and going back years that Moses absolutely hates Rugby League and the way he gets tossed from clubs suggests as much but he's stuck it out and made some big bucks along the way. I hear it's not that uncommon

Let's face it, most people hate their jobs but need the cash. Some Footy players are just fortunate enough to get a decent contract that sets them up for life if they're smart with it.

I'm of the opinion the maximum contract length should be 3 years and heavily incentivesed so that players are always looking to put their best foot forward / play at 100%

Imagine they were paid off match incentives, win get paid so much, and so much for a loss. That would be ideal, like local footy but never gonna happen
